I didn't see the pitch Schneider got ejected on in real time, so my first exposure to it was in the recap here.

Woof, that's just inexcusable. It's not just a foot off the plate it's also down. I'd say the ump should be embarrassed but I think we all know that umpires have no shame.

Jays have now won 5 of their last 6 but in only one of those games they have scored more than 3 runs. The pitching can't do anymore and hope the offense can start finding hits with RISP.

Phew, got it.

Man these wins by the skin of their teef, just not enough run production.

Against really good teams that doesnt cut it, as we've seen.
They've won 6 of their last 8. Seems like they're getting enough run production.

I'm not gonna tell someone else how to enjoy the game, but it seems like a few people respond to every win with "Sure they won, but..." and I just don't get it. There have been some really, really fun games lately and they've been coming out on top thanks to some fantastic pitching.

I'm confident the runs will start to come because they haven't really had an issue getting baserunners during this stretch and I've never seen any evidence that hitting with RISP as a team is anything more than random variance. It'll normalize and they'll start bringing them in.

Can't wait to see the Ump Scorecard on this one. From my eyes he was bad all game for both teams.

Agreed that at some point that it has to start normalizing and hope that it is sooner than later. I just can't see them continue to get risp with less than 2 outs and not be able to score a run. I don't know if it maybe more mental than physical as if they may put more pressure on themselves when they get a chance to get a hit because they know that everyone is struggling.

Jays have scored 5+ runs only 4 times in their last 19 games. They are somehow 9-10 in that stretch thanks to the trio of Bassit, Berrios, and Gausmann. Most of the starting pitchers we faced in that stretch weren't big names where you just tip your cap. Offense should've pounded some of the pitchers we've faced in that stretch and to me that's worrying more than anything. What happens if this team makes the post season and is facing good pitching?

Offense is definitely an area we should be adding to at the trade deadline. I don't feel confident that we will score enough runs which will force our pitchers to be perfect. We need to be aggressive if a big bat is available.

This offense is down right putrid and will be the reason this team goes nowhere

The pitching is f***ing incredible.

Ah yes that ball is a good 2 feet off the plate and it's a strike.

I'm so glad the MLB is charitable enough to employ the visually impaired.
Well, this is how employment equity works. lol

Being an ump must be the best job in the world. Imagine being able to be this bad at something with zero consequences and the power to get rid of anyone dares call you on your ridiculous ineptitude.
Our PM's ears are burning....lol

I know Vlad hasn't been hitting well but why wouldn't you walk him? Showalter makes some dumb decisions
Some? lol

Pearson played a big role too. The team was clearly missing a good relief pitcher and Pearson has been that for the last 3-4 weeks. He's 26 now so he'S not a kid anymore i hope they'll keep testing him in important situations. It's important to know if he can do the job before the deadline.

I still think the offense wont wake up by itself just by luck or law of average. Some guys will have to step up or they will need to start trying some kids (not too familiar with minor players). Like for the bullpen i feel help from the "outside" might be needed. Team will need a DH imo Belt is doing fine but he's more a good bench player than a DH at this point of his career.

The Jays are 10th in runs per game and 4th in wRC+ this year. Calm down.

They are 11th now and closer to 12th and 13th than 10th. I'm not sure what's so great with being 11th in something though? There's 12 teams making the playoffs if you are 11th at something then it's certainly not great. Also there's a 20 runs game in that and half those runs were against a position player. Not sure how anymore can think the offense is doing great.

You do realize that Belt has a 125 wRC+ despite his April?

He is 22nd overall in wRC+ since (and only 5 of the 22 have 90 or more PA).

I never said they're doing great, but they are 4th in wRC+, which I would guess is far better at projecting future run scoring than runs per game is.

I was responding to the complaints that the offense is awful and that they're going to miss the playoffs because they suck so much at scoring runs.

They're 11th in runs per game.
They're 8th in runs against per game.

Realistically, the run prevention has been slightly better than the run scoring, but they're both in the same range. The pitching has won them a bunch of games lately just like the offense won them a bunch of games earlier in the year. As usual, a lot of people can't see past whatever's happened most recently, so I guess the offense sucks because they've had a rough week and a half.
