Kinda sucks that we don’t have picks till the third round. I’d be jumping left and right trying to see who would still be there.
I guess Hughes will say they got a forward with a lot of potential in Newhook to offer immediate help and then went with Reinbacher because they saw him as the best player.
Reinbacher is good, people who doubt will be surprised. His floor is a #3 defensemen and he might not get points in a flashy manner like some other defensemen but by playing that many minutes and using his smarts he will get on the board.
I do share the disappointment of not drafting Michkov or getting any additional assets.

Let's not exaggerates. But where does he fit with Guhle, Hutson, Mailloux and Barron? I'm not 100% convince he'll be a massive upgrade over any of those guys. Hope i'm wrong.

He's small, not a strong skater and his game rely heavily on deception. He is the top10 ranked guy that need to change/adapt his game the most to be an effective NHLer.
That said, the kid is very smart and got skills, so there is a realistic chance he can pull it off. It's just that teams aren't super comfortable in taking that bet yet.
Move up from what, our next pick is in the 3rd round now lol. Would take a massive haul to move up that high.

The only explanation that I can come with and makes most sense, is that @Goldenhands is actually GM Kent Hughes. I saw him at the table earlier on his phone on HFBoards..
They drafted a good player though, just not the one most of us wanted.

Im not sure if its just a Arizona thing but question is if poltitics werent a factor, why did teams still pass on Michkov?

You mentioned tanking next year as if picking from a pool of players who won't play in the NHL next year has an impact on that. Maybe I misunderstood you.
