Silver lining. Canucks need the Habs to go on a streak. Same for every team below them and those teams just aren’t capable of doing that.
I don’t even think it’s realistic that we could be bottom 4 at this point. I’m not even paying attention to those teams from a Canucks tank perspective anymore. Only somewhat paying attention to Chicago because I want them to have as little chance at Bedard as possible. 5th worst however is definitely within reach which would be great.

So basically it’s teams like SJ, Montreal, Ottawa, and Philly that we’re talking against.

Not sure how long ago I posted about it but I have been adamant that the best the Canucks can do is 5th and that will be a challenge. That’s with a near total sell-off several weeks back and other teams winning more than they should.

Totally agree. 9th or 10th is more likely.

Posted this on Wednesday:

Took a look at the Canucks and the competition for 5th last. It's pretty dire. Based strength of schedule for the rest of the season, the Canucks will probably actually rise to 8th overall.

Senators
11-26-52766 points
Flyers
12-28-22665 points
Canucks
12-26-42865 points
Canadiens
10-30-42459 points
Sharks
6-31-21448 points
Coyotes
7-30-51950 points

1) Blackhawks
2) Blue Jackets
3) Ducks
4) Sharks
5) Coyotes
6) Canadiens
7) Flyers
8) Canucks
9) Senators

Canuck’s can’t just suck. They have to blow too.

Couple of other bc boys in the 7-11 range. I will be ok with cristall or benson in that range. Maybe mitchkov can fall to us. That be great.

I think Habs are the only team we can possibly outtank below us.

Pretty much. Unlike everyone else they won’t be shedding significant pieces at the deadline so what they are now will be how they finish. Everyone else, Canucks included, should be much weaker.

This team desperately needs help to make the pain of which is this season to mean anything. We need to trade Horvat, Kuzmenko, and Schenn asap. The way things are now with the impending coach bump and Demko’s return looming, it’s looking real dire.

Although the trade deadline is almost here, why do I get that sense of dread that moves made for eternal mediocrity will be made over ones of hope? I guess it’s because we know what this owner and his puppets will probably be doing. We’ve seen it with our own eyes for the past decade already.

I think the worst case scenario is not Horvat getting injured and walking for nothing. It’s signing him to a long term extension. That one move will definitely lock us into eternal mediocrity hell. I’m super nervous cause I know Aqua has one more big offer on the table. My only hope is that Horvat will save us all and himself at the same time by refusing to sign whatever that offer will be

Was Jimmy boy setting us up for a potential trade to move our pick?

He was pushing how draft picks take too long pretty hard in that presser.

Specifically said they won’t be don’t that.
Oh yeah. He basically said they would do all things at once.

But he was definitely pushing this idea that draft picks are lottery tickets and even when they hit they take too long.

If ~2 years is the time frame they intend to compete, this years draft pick wont do any good unless its Bedard.

He said he wants the team to be competitive and if they are going to be moving out players they want players in-return so getting a draft pick doesn’t help in that regard. Player in, player out.
I get what you’re saying but it seems like your putting pins and string on a cork board.

Oh sorry.

Did not mean to do that.

I admit it is an out-there hot take by me.

But if the timeline is be competetive ASAP then drafting outside the top2 this year does not help you ASAP.
