Canada is not going to the 2024 Copa America after getting defeated by Jamaica. They lose 4-4 on aggregate.

This nation is back to the dark ages.

There’s still a back door play in. Yet they are brutal. Decent attack but the defense and tactical play in midfield is poor.

Hard to fathom that all of those strong headwinds behind the Canadians qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since 1986 and the entire country being behind them, has all but dissipated like a fart in a windstorm.

Canada's governing soccer body is in a shambles.....chronically underfunded, and quite frankly is an embarrassment. Apparently there's not enough money to even schedule exhibition matches against decent opponents.

Makes you wonder how long it will take for some of the Canadians playing overseas to simply drift away from the program. What a come down!

Hopefully someone out there can offer more insight, but from what I understand Soccer Canada has been "sold-out" to a 3rd party organization that is "for profit" and is basically giving scraps back to the payers and the program while funneling profits back to their org?

There has been a few opportunities for matches against ranked teams in the world but the Org that controls soccer Canada wouldn't or couldn't pay the fees?

There has been very little attention paid in Canadian media and social-media to what is happening behind the scenes in soccer Canada. Really a shame, we have world class talent and a chance to compete on the world stage.

Exactly what happened. The Canadian Soccer Board (CSB) takes all revenue that's generated by Canada Soccer with Canada Soccer only getting 3 million in exchange for this. The Canadian Soccer Board (CSB) subsidizes owners in the Canadian Premier League. The former president of Canada Soccer (Nick Bontis) knew this deal would go sideways in a hurry and stepped down before the full details became unearthed. Let's make this clear, this was not due to incompetence...This is what you see in those failed companies where some CEO/VP comes in with the sole objective of enriching themselves or their buddies (execs) while syphoning government handouts and stockholder money, and then forcing the company into a sale or bankruptcy.

This deal has effectively killed all momentum for the Canadian mens and womens program. There's zero funds to grow the program right now. They cannot pay to even host friendlies on Canadian soil. The youth program has absolutely gone to hell and I suspect this nation will see some very dark times ahead once this generation of players age out.

Do you know who oversees Canada Soccer?
