My favorite pick for us at 28. A WHL RH defenseman who averaged over a PPG in his draft year and who will likely be playing for team Canada at the next 2 WJHC and be a future top 4 or at least a PP specialist.![]()
NHL mock draft: Kevin Weekes' projections for every first-round pick
There's no surprise who's going No. 1 to the Blackhawks. But who'll get picked after Connor Bedard? Here's our final prediction before this year's event.www.espn.com
28. Toronto Maple Leafs: Lukas Dragicevic, D, Tri-City (WHL)
DOB: 04/25/05 | Ht: 6-1 | Wt: 190 | Shot: R
GP: 68 | G: 15 | A: 60 | P: 75
We can go on and on about the Leafs. But the biggest thing for them is they have clearly committed to playing a certain style. That certain style is an up-tempo skilled game. They have not had many young defensemen -- especially now that they moved Rasmus Sandin to Washington -- who are in the system. Maybe Dragicevic, who is a skilled point producer, can replace Sandin in that role.
He doesn’t play D. He’s basically a one dimensional PP specialist similar to Sandin with less physicality. Hard pass.My favorite pick for us at 28. Gives me MAJOR Mike Green vibes
Is he not the kid that only started playing D like 2 or 3 yrs ago? The defensive side can still be developed. Worst case scenario, he goes back to being a forward and we have a high end RW in our pool (which we lack). He doesn’t play D. Skating needs work too. Same as Sandin. Is he not the kid that only started playing D like 2 or 3 yrs ago? The defensive side can still be developed. Worst case scenario, he goes back to being a forward and we have a high end RW in our pool (which we lack).
Zero chance? Getting close to our pick and he’s still in the boardZero chance.
The guys who might fall would be Sale, Gulyeyev, Heidt, Cristall and Ritchie. All of them have top line potential but none are complete players. Hrabal, Gajan and Fowler would be decent goalie selections. Musty was a candidate to drop but big guys with offensive skill never fall.
Musty will probably go in the next 3 or 4 picks. He’s the next guy up on my list.Zero chance? Getting close to our pick and he’s still in the board
