The problem is, of course, determining which player is indeed the proverbial BPA.If Habs aren't sold on Smith, the obvious choice is Reinbacher. I've commented about this in the past. Laying out the next 1-2 years (up until the end of 2024 offseason) in my opinion, and the one problem I always had was figuring out a way the Habs get a no. 1 D. Reinbacher is in the mold of my favourite types of elite defencemen, even if it's not the popular choice, and he's definitely deserving of a pick between 5-8. If Habs think he's a future no. 1/top pairing D, you take him and run. Conversely, if they think a smith or a Leonard is what the need to properly complete the top 6 going forward thats good too. But I'd like to remind everyone of the obvious in that the Habs (assuming PLD comes) are pretty much done squirting their future forward core and it's all about time and development now
Just take BPA
Or don't take the risk and pick your favourite at 5Trade down to 7 and get the easy pick of who is left between Reinbacher, Leonard, and Dvorsky. That's what Hughes' really wants anyway

I would be horribly disappointed in this. Would rather take Michkov/Reinbacher at 5. Best scenario is trading up to 4 in this case.Wheeler and Pronman did a 2 round mock.
Bedard at 1
Fantilli 2
Smith 3
Carlsson 4
We take Leonard at 5
Reinbacher 6
Dvorsky 7
Michkov at 8.
At 29 we take Cristall
At 37 we take Hrabal.
I'd honestly be okay with that. We get the most competitive with skill player in the draft, go boom or bust with high skill end of r1 and still manage the best goalie in the draft in round 2.

I'd be happy with Cristall and Hrabal though.
Benson, Cristall, Smith, Reinbacher, Wood and Sale. There are a few guys in this draft who have elite offensive skillsets, and the crowd here has soured on almost all of them. Makes ya think.
I'd trade back if they aren't taking Michkov. We should be getting paid to be wimps, at least.
Can we f***ing stop with that Leonard BS. Hes not the pick at 5, thats it. Hes a glorified Barlow at this point you guys are f***ing crazy.
This is one of the best draft ever and were going to pick Leonard? What is wrong with you dingdongs?
It shouldnt be Dvorsky or Leonard at all. Dont let their bad drafting get you there.ok so at #5 it should be one of Michkov,Smith,Reinbacher,Benson,Dvorksy or Leonard
what about 29 and 37 any names i should be looking at ?

i want Michkov,Smith or Benson but i woudlnt be surprised if management would be in love with Leonard or DvorksyIt shouldnt be Dvorsky or Leonard at all. Dont let their bad drafting get you there.
Its impossible to know whos slated to go around 29 and 37 but Id say Brzustewicz, Molendyk, Haltunnen, Lardis, Perron, But, Rykov, Wahlberg, Unger Sorum, Musty, Ziemmer, Heidt, Gauthier, Bonk, Brindley, maybe Honzek, Simashev, Gulyayev.
Why not stay at 5 and pick the one we prefer?Trade down to 7 and get the easy pick of who is left between Reinbacher, Leonard, and Dvorsky. That's what Hughes' really wants anyway
Because the one they seem to prefer shouldn't go in the top 10Why not stay at 5 and pick the one we prefer?
If they leave Michkov, Smith, benson or Reinbacher on the board I will f***ing lose it. HuGo are already on thin ice with the Slaf/Mesar pick and letting Firkus slide to pick Beck, i cant f***ing muster the courage of another "trying to be the smartest in the room" pick.
For all we know with Gorton and Bobrovs horrible ass draft record (actually worse than the Habs Bergy era), it will f***ing happen.
Me too buddy, me too.I was attacked for saying this last year and this year lol
Trade to 9th with Detroit and get potentially another 1st in their puck at 17th.Trade down to 7 and get the easy pick of who is left between Reinbacher, Leonard, and Dvorsky. That's what Hughes' really wants anyway
The one that scored 51 in 57 and plays a complete game? This is Brady Tkachuk all over again, oh wait, he was barely able to produce but for some reason people always seem to think that 200 foot players that have a physical game can't be dominant forwards...Because the one they seem to prefer shouldn't go in the top 10
Leonard is not Brady Tkachuk. Tkachuk was a 6'3 orc even at the time of the draft, its not the same at all. Leonard is fantastic, hes not Smith, Benson, Reinbacher or Wood. The one that scored 51 in 57 and plays a complete game?
