He's going back, he has a contract there.
Yeah, until 2026, I believe.
But if he doesn't want to go back... does he really have to?

I mean, he doesn't have to, but I don't think he can play in the NHL, so where is he going to play?Yeah, until 2026, I believe.

That said, Michkov coming to the draft shows that he wants to be in the NHL. Perhaps he gets out of the contract sooner than later. That's a big deal if Michkov conveys that message to the NHL teams interested. He's going back, he has a contract there.

He could pay to get out of it, but that's coming out of his own pocket, from what I understand.
Right, but he has to pay out of his own pocket, and it's typically a lot of money that a young player can't afford. Not saying it won't happen, just less likely. He could play in the NHL if he were to work something out to get out of his contract in Russia.
I can't think of any, but I'm sure there has been one or two.Have KHL contracts been bought out before? Maybe a player agent would give an advance or something, but if that is on the table there's no way he slips to a reasonable trade up scenario anyway for the Hawks
Hall and AA would be a generational duo to lead Hawks to the 2024 1st overall
I'd be thrilled with the first 3 picks (Bedard, But, Wahlberg) but have disagreements about the D and goalie(I'd take Strbak and Gajan at 51, and Lind at 55)
I think if But is there at 19 he's the Hawks pick unless someone unexpected falls. This mock is the closest mock I've seen to what I think will actually happen.
Simashev's ceiling is probably Hjalmarsson-lite.I know we're chockful of left-handed defenseman in our prospect pool and I know we need to stock up on forwards this draft, but man I love Simashev so much. 6'4 dmen just aren't supposed to skate like that. He skates better than Korchinski and his defensive instincts and competitivness are top notch. He's the prototypical new age shutdown dman with some untapped offensive upside with his deceptiveness and agility.
If he slips down to our spot I don't envy Davidson to have to make that call.

I'd say his ceiling is straight up peak Hjalmarsson. He might not get there but all the tools are there.Simashev's ceiling is probably Hjalmarsson-lite.
I wouldn't expect him to put up points but he could be one of the best defensive defensemen in the league.
Theo Lindstein is the Hjalmarsson of the draftI'd say his ceiling is straight up peak Hjalmarsson. He might not get there but all the tools are there.
I'd prefer them to grab 2 RD. They have nothing on the right side.Barring trades the Hawks should probably utilize 2 of the 6 picks between 1-64 on defenders (1 LD, 1 RD)
Focus on forwards but still grab a quality couple of defenders to stock up cupboards even more
I don't expect Simashev to be available at #19 but if he is sitting there taking him would be fine IMO
