1 year at 5. Yet we’ll hear again and again about how losing a bit of space here and there isn’t a big deal.
Chicago had to take contracts just to get to the minimum.
They signed Foligno to an overpriced one year deal for that reason (with the intent to flip him with money retained at the TDL).

What do you think of Oscar Fisker Molgaard? He seems like a good all around player with a non stop motor. From the little I’ve seen and the lot I’ve read, he seems to have 3C potential at the NHL level.
I dont think he gets out of the 2nd. He's a guy I'd want if the Flyers had a 2nd rounder.

Good player. Actually first saw him in person at 14 years old playing u-20 level... by accident aha.

I think he will go 2nd round tbh. Long gone by time Flyers picks.

Lol, figures.

They really need to make a move to get into the 2nd but Tort’s will throw a hissy fit if they deal his baby boy Scotty

What is the relevance of this in regard to the weaponization of cap space and its importance in manufacturing value?
When you have as much as Chicago, you can spend it like a drunken sailor.
But one reason Briere moved out Hayes and TDA is to free up cap room, $6M this summer, $8.5M the next two seasons.
Their cap room was more valuable than any potential return on those trades.

Was TDA traded and I missed it? That's a genuine question. I've been busy.

I would argue that having cap space to sell this year should be more valuable, not just for the immediacy. This is the last year of the real crunch. The Hayes path they chose did not maximize space for this year. That was a choice.

Now maybe given that, Chicago should have held out for more.
