I expected a heartbreaking loss vs Canada (what?, I’m half Eastern European) but I probably would rather Latvia take their chances with Germany than get multiple Bronze medal champion USA in the last game.

Too bad they aren’t playing these medal games in Riga.

Unfortunately for Latvia, this USA roster is full of guys who are likely to actually care about the game tomorrow too. Most of them are either really young or journeymen who will probably never get to play for their country again.

Nine players on the US roster played NCAA hockey this season and our leading scorer is an American league all star who hadn't played for a US team since the 2013 WJC.

Why hasn’t the IIHF considered moving the WC to early September so they could have teams made up of NHL players and not a hodge lodge of guys who are available and some guys with jet lag showing up late.

I had to look up their roster just to see who was on it. There's one other goalie listed, but judging by his age and the fact I've never heard of him, I'm betting he's a prospect and they wouldn't put him in a medal game.
