No, no it doesn't work.

If Finland - Latvia get's it i bet the semifinal and medal round games are in Riga, since the fans wasn't really allowed to the stands last year. But i do hope Slovenia - Hungary get's the tournament, totally new market and the fans there as passioned. Yugoslavia was the host in 1966 and it was played in Ljubljana.
They withdrew.

They said on Finnish TV today that Finland will host the final four again and Latvia had no problem with that because they understand Finland is way more likely to make it that far.

So Lärvinen won't be going to Riga next year.
That guy is probably so drunk all the time that he ends up to Vilnius instead of Riga or Tampere

The article is a really good comment how ignorant and greedy the Finnish hockey association is. I think its a very well written and I totally agree. They don't care if no one supports the Finns, they just want every single euro businesses are willing to pay for the tickets. There is no place for fans to be loud and the atmosphere is like a church when they should be loud and support the team.

2016 WJC was very cheap to attend and the atmosphere was great. Its much easier to cheer for Huuhkajat (Finnish football team) since they actually care about the fans and work with them.

In ice hockey only money matters and the people are old guys who not care who attends the ganes as long its someone. So damn annoying and makes me feel sad that its better to go abroad WHC tournament to cheer for Finland than at home. They can actually support the team and be loud. Those are the true fans travelling with the team instead of being people who would never go to the tournament outside of Finland.

On the other hand, they're looking at making a profit of 5-10 million euros, which will benefit Finnish hockey greatly.

Maikkari, on the other hand, manages to take a complete opposite stance on the issue:

Which is... not that surprising, really, considering that they're the broadcaster. Try not to notice the oh-so-subtle mention of the "dirt cheap C More subscription with top shelf commentators".

"Hay guys, U can no afford tickets? No problem! Buy buy buy our excluuuusive cable package!"

Is it the first time all European fans will be hoping their team plays in a specific group? Previously, Germany co-hosted with France, Sweden with Finland, and Latvia was supposed to co-host with Belarus. All countries with simillar prices.
Riga and Tampere appear to have signifficant gap in prices. Finns themselves would probably like their team to play in Riga :D

I mean of course. The prices will be high again for Finland games.

Ticket prices were ridiculously high in Riga for the limited capacities allowed for the last group day and knockout stage in 2021. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual ticket prices cost the same in both cities or are very, very close. However, beer in Riga is still around EUR 3-4, unlike Tampere. :D

It is not only the prices, I went to Tampere this year, so would be nice to visit another place next year :)

Yes, but if I remember correctly, those prices were mandated by the IIHF, apparently Fassel wanted to stick it to them for the whole Belarus flag controversy. I'm sure with that a-hole gone prices will be much more affordable. It will be interesting to see if they're the same in both cities. I know from experience that beer is much cheaper in LV than Finland, so hopefully Canada draws Riga. I need a cheaper vacation.

FIN and CAN won't be in the same group (yearly finalists obv will be not be in the same group 2023 as well) - so I think canadian fans can now already be sure that their round robin games will be in Riga. You'll get that cheaper vacation ;)
