I think actually going deep, having a 2-0 series lead in the conference final against the back to back cup champs; is more indicative of ability to go deep than these analytics are. We were 2 wins away from the cup final

Rangers deserve credit for their run - it was a good one.

It also isn't indicative of future success - look at Dallas, MTL, hell - the Islanders went back to back ECFs then missed the playoffs.

The NHL playoffs are wild - that's what makes them fun - but would it be shocking if the Rangers lose in the first round to PITT/CAR next year? You might favor them against one of those teams, but even then it's what- at best 55-45?
