Pre-Game Talk: 2023 Draft Discussion

Fantilli is still a nightmare

BIIIIIIG surprise that Chicago got him though, only less surprising thing would have been Pittsburgh

Don't the new rules prevent Pittsburgh from moving up that high though?
No. Rules are that if you win, you move up (either to first or second overall), but now there's a limit on the number of lotteries you can "win" in a certain time span (you can't win more than twice in a five year span).

Ah, in 2021, the new rule(The Rangers rule) was that a team can't move up more than 10 spaces.

Chicago had 3 1st round picks, and 2 2nd rounds picks last year.

This year they have 2 1sts, including 1OA, and 4 2nds.

If they stay on course, they could be a force in the league in about 5 years.
I thought Nazar was really unimpressive last year. He did miss most of the year until the end, but he never really showed anything that warranted how high he went in the draft. That was what they ended up getting for their failed Dach pick.

Reichel looked good though, 25 goal pace at age 20. He will be one fixture on Bedard’s wing. They will probably be looking to add someone with some size and skill as the 3rd guy on that line.

Er nevermind, I forgot Matthews is a center.

Well, some people do think Bedard may end up as a winger. We don’t know what AM’s priorities are in a potential new home. Some say he wants to be closer to the southwest, which would obviously eliminate Chicago. But assuming Bedard is even like 85% McDavid that would be a very appealing place for him to want to go. They will likely be on the cusp of being really good, it’s an amazing sports market, he can maximize his earnings while not having to be in Canada.

It could make sense.

What are your thoughts on Fantilli since you've seen him a bunch I'm sure.
