But I will add this:

Lol I was so angry after the qf, that I turned off the tv immediately and completely missed this. Huge thumbs up for Antos here, he just summed it up perfectly.

You cant win if you just stand in you zone waiting and waiting what an opponent do. And talking about "weak" squad is just pure bs and excuse. Look how Slovaks played against Canada, how Germans played against Canada and US, how Latvians played etc. all having even weaker teams on this wch then we did, but their style of play for absolutelly uncomparable to ours. We just looked like complete amateurs compared to them, and it was totally embarassing.

Interesting article about our appearance at the World Cup. Just another piece in the mosaic of how the coach and his ultra-defensive tactics work on the Czech players in the national team.

Great article
.. Lukas jasek was another offensive guy we didn't even consider. Kari wanted 6 Sobotka, 3 cernochs and 3 guys that can score.

Zlata hokejka nominations came out... Not one extraliger on the list.

We are purposely leaving out 40 good players every year to focus on NHL and extraliga.

But the Czech hockey environment itself is to blame for a lot of things, because I haven't read/heard so much crap in a long time. I'll add one I recently found...

It just seems illogical that Sedlák, Hyka and Will signed up for five years in the extra league. Richer Switzerland wasn't in the game?

Another thing is that the Czech league is not worse than, say, the Swiss league.

This is exactly the problem of the wonderful self-deception, because Sedlák Volek's agent says that the Czech league is not a worse league than the NL. And he says this only because his player has extended his contract with the top Czech team of the moment - Pardubice. Three clubs are clearly of higher quality - Třinec, Sparta, Pardubice. Then there is a big gap and a succession of teams with lower quality than these three but still able to surprise the favorite. And then there is the uninteresting middle and bottom of the table, with average foreigners and bad Czech players. After the departure of the imports from the KHL, the impression was created that the Czech league is rising and that it is not a bad competition. And that's why Latvia won a medal with players from the extra league and the Czechs went home after the QF, but Latvia's key players played NHL/AHL/SHL/DEL plus one player - Balinskis.

If you want to fire Jalonen, do it after reasonable discussion and arguments. Not in the way that the president of the federation starts writing crap about playing style. This is undignified and stupid, literally humiliating to Jalonen. But in the Czech Republic, a relatively common, rational debate about the future of the coach cannot be held, it is simply better to fire the coach.

Yes, I agree that the style of play was too passive, defensive and it was seriously far from active play. But kicking Jalonen for playing this style is bullshit, he always plays like this and doesn't change his style. Therefore also as a coach he was successful with his style and won several trophies. In addition, this team was terrible in defense, I have probably never seen so many personal battles lost in their own zone from a developed hockey country. An opponent like Norway was able to push the Czech defenders and take the puck away from them with absolute ease and create pressure. The only luck for the Czechs was that the players of Norway had weak shots. I would also like to think about why a player like Spacek is able to score points regularly in his club but has never shown anything in the national team. Is it really just about the roles they get from the trainers?

As the first post on this page, I gave a link to an interview with the former well-known Czech player and currently recognized skating coach Čutta. If you use a translator, even from the available part you will understand what most Czech fans are thinking now. It's pretty detailed there.
Jalonen can be a good choice for Finnish players, but so far after two years it seems that he is not suitable for Czech players. We have a different mentality and the game under his leadership is simply crazy, boring and above all not even effective. The Czech nature is different from the Finnish one, the players are too bound by tactics, they are afraid of making mistakes and even a player like Špaček plays well below his capabilities.
I personally hope that a new coach will come, I don't believe it can get any worse.

But I am not defending Jalonen, if a more suitable coach is available, then Jalonen will be fired. He knows it, the people on the executive committee know it too. Of course, Jalonen's work style had to come into conflict with the Czech mentality, but that is not primarily Jalonen's problem, the coach's assistants should have intervened here and alerted Jalonen to possible clashes between the two worlds.

I wouldn't mind a change in the post of NT coach at all. But it must be done with dignity, presenting arguments and discussing, not the clowning that Hadamczik and Dedek performed. This bothers me, and it bothers me a lot, this is not the way to deal with a coach, it is contempt for a successful coach and Jalonen remains that way, regardless of the eighth place. What I also heard from the players, Jalonen changed this tournament, he was no longer as open and communicative as a year ago, he was aware of the pressure.

Now I would laugh a lot if Rulik wanted to take a year off from hockey. He can have absolute peace of mind, because Pardubice is still paying him, and Dedek would certainly be happy if he didn't have to pay him, but the federation would pay him. Nevertheless, I think that Rulik is more suitable as a person who sets the trend, discusses with the coaches and is not directly a coach. I got the impression from several of his interviews that he would be far more valid in that role than just as NT coach.

Yes, if Rulík is not available, then it will actually be a problem to find someone suitable at all.
The debate is on, I don't know who has a problem with Hadamczik expressing his opinion. He gave his point of view and I agree with him on this point, as do some of the fans and probably the experts as well. I understand that, for example, the newspaper isport.cz has a long-term problem with Hadamczik and supports Jalonen, but I find it ridiculous to make an expression of an opinion an "outrageous attack". We will see the resolution in a few days, everyone in the management of Czech hockey will say their opinion and (not) draw consequences.

You don't understand me, I'm writing about the fact that even before the tournament in Tampere and Riga started, there was already talk behind the scenes that Jalonen would be recalled regardless of the final result. Some players knew it, even Jalonen himself felt the distrust, it simply leaked out among people, among journalists. And when, after a bad performance in the QF and a 0-3 loss, Hadamczik tweets that the style of play must change... because Prague and the home tournament. This was not an artificially induced case by journalists, the players knew about this plan to replace Jalonen, this is simply not done and Hadamczik can easily deny it a hundred times, he can say a hundred times that it is not true and then announce Rulik as the new coach. And yes, no one can ban Hadamczik from writing on twitter, just ask yourself why the Finnish, Swedish or Swiss federation president won't do this.

The problem with Hadamczik is that he is very happy to cancel/destroy something because it is not his idea or idea but it was people from the former president. He is very consistent in this..but he no longer offers an alternative for what he just canceled. Now he likes to talk about how he will add money to coaches in the junior league, the youth league and the ninth grade. But he still didn't understand that he should add primarily to the coaches of children, not only from 15 years and older. If there are already bad habits, low game IQ or insufficient skill, then in three years, under the guidance of well-paid coaches, the player will remove everything and be of the same quality as a Swede, Finn or Canadian? Probably not, hey...

For example, the players played well for two thirds against Switzerland, only one against Canada, etc. Is Hadamczik to blame for that, but we were awkward in the rest of the match? Come on...
We were just as bad in the last championship in the first two games before Pastrňák arrived.
Excuse me, it is clear to me that Jalonen is a decent person, a person of great credit and has had success almost everywhere he has coached. But this is not the case with the Czech national team. I won't repeat myself again..

Hadamczik showed his usual classlessness when he sent that tweet as these are matters best handled internally. But while I despise Hadamczik as much as the next man, unfortunately the substance of what he said was right. It hurts my eyes watching the team play; the style Jalonen plays is simply not suitable to a Czech national team and we need him replaced. My ideal would be a Canadian coach for a change, someone like Craig Ramsey but younger, with a good track record and knowledge of the AHL so that we might integrate some of our better players from that league. Or Rulik, if we go Czech (which is infinitely more likely of course - no way Had appoints a Canadian).

We are not fun to watch at all.

We can't score like the big boys, we definitely don't attack.

We're also not good at the patient 'lower tier' counter attack game. That never goes our way.

We are just in between the 2 styles. But neither is a Czech style and I think that bugs me. When I see our NT.. I don't even know exactly what we are trying to do.lol I don't really know what 'Czech hockey' is in 2023.

Isport.cz sometimes has a pretty good critical view, some editors know how to ask the right questions or write the right point. But then there are also people like Janda, who lower the quality because they have a personal problem with Hadamczik. And it's been going on for a long time between them, the current case about the end of the hall of fame is a perfect example of that. There, Janda could literally go wild and write a series of articles on this topic.

Rysavy is a good journalist, I've listened to some of his podcasts and he doesn't judge Hadamczyk, he has a critical mind and doesn't need to have a personal problem with him. And it bothers me exactly the same thing as Rysavy, as a fan I basically don't have the opportunity to see his work that he did in a year because the federation doesn't communicate, you only know a few things. Outward communication is at a tragic level. But in a year it would be a mistake if he didn't win the election. Even if the person bothers me a lot, I am willing to give him time to show what he can do and have a mandate for a longer period of time. And the article about Hadamczik becoming a coach in a year is nonsense, I think it was Janda who wrote it, I don't know why he wrote it at all.

Yes, the problem with the fact that often two-thirds of the match was bad and only one-third was good, that has been going on with Jalonen all season. I would also fire him because he is not the type of coach who would want and be willing to change his established game system. But Jalonen did not have problems and conflicts in the team like master Pesan and the conflict between Hronk and Simon. One of his good things is getting a setback out of players and immediately getting them ready for the next match. And I would also like to remind you that when Jalonen took the Czech federation's offer, no one wanted to join NT. Where were all the Ruliks or Jandacs? Hiding in the heat, at ease, and they didn't want to spoil their name with the Czech national team. For this reason alone, Jalonen would deserve a different treatment, a more dignified one and not some crap on Twitter.

I just hope they part ways on a gentlemen's agreement, otherwise I think Jalonen will not feel loyalty to the Czechs and will openly say why he quit and what pressures he had to face.

I mostly agree with this post.
I just don't understand the allusion to Rulík and Jandač. No one wanted Jandač there, he already got his chance and Rulík only made a huge name for himself this season, no one offered him a contract either.

The idea was that no one wanted to go to NT, now Rulik is there as a possible replacement for Jalonen. After the dismissal of Pesan, going to NT was not attractive, that's why Jalonen came, but he was given a contract by the former management. I don't know what the exact conditions were, but three years is a long time. If they had offered him one year and an option for the second year, but with the fact that both sides would evaluate in June how satisfied they were, everything could have been calm.

Sorry for the mistake, I thought it was during Pesan's time.
It's party of the 'Marty argument'...

Jalonen takes over, we suck, we lose to Austria.. we are 1-1-1 and Hronek/Simon get in a fight.

Simon leaves the team.

That was how Jalonen's first WC started. Then along comes Pasta! We win Bronze.

Now this last tournament was a disaster. So we have those first 3 games from last year and all 8 from this year. 11 mostly bad games and 4 good ones (with Pasta).

Not saying it was all Pasta by any means but there is definitely what the NT looks like with Pasta and what it doesn't without him.

FTR.. not sure if we should fire Kari or not. I don't like what Hadamczak did with the tweet and I don't care what Dedek thinks. Or, as bigbagboar said.. how many coaches have we had in this medal draught? Maybe it isn't just about the coaching. But I do hate that Kari style.

Dont forget that it was no "beauty" with Pasta also, after he came we still played terribly against US (1:0 lucky win), Finns (0:3 loss) and Canada(1:6 blowout) so even after he came the presented game was still not very good considering how f***in stacked the team was even besides Pasta lol. If I compare it to our 2019 performance also with stacked team, then last year we played terribly compared to that even with Pasta.

I think our only big 5 wins are the 2 against the US with Pasta.lol Every other top tier opponent has handled us easily... including the Swiss this year. And, of course, Austria and Latvia.

In March 2022, Jalonen signed a head coaching contract with the Czech national team until May 2024. Jalonen accepted a two-year contract to coach the Finnish national under-20 team covering the 2023 and 2024 IIHF World Under-20 Championships.

The outcome of the negotiations on Jalonen's position is postponed to June 20. The report will be drawn up by Havlat, it will be complete, it should contain the progress of preparation, the selection of players for the tournament, the competences for which who is responsible... and also the selection of players for the domestic tournament for the year.

I'm laughing to the max, I was also amused that Norrena was the only one fired from the implementation team so far. Probably the biggest problem was in the videos...

The executive committee wants to force Jalonen to change his style of play, a totally ridiculous thing at his age. Now he should throw away what has brought him success in his coaching career for the sake of one tournament. He ends up alone, they fired the only Finnish person and it's just another pressure for him to say himself that he won't continue. Probably only in the Czech Republic is it possible that the officials will force the coach to change his style..

Lojza certainly did not expect such a strong support from the players, otherwise Jalonen would have already been dismissed and Rulik would be the new coach.

And I ask again... what makes Martin Havlat (one of my fav players growing up) qualified to do any of this? We need nerds not former NHLers!

He's a bastard.. he didn't hire him and he'll make him the scapegoat while talking about saving money on rental cars or whatever bullshit he keeps bringing up. Great divorce lawyer, awful hockey GM.

Firing the only Finn is brutal too!

As far as the other guys.. not sure what they did to be NT coaches either. Again, famous last names.

We are an old boys club just hiring our friends.

A good business plan:

A students hire A students and get out of their way and let them do their thing.

A bad business plan:

B students hire C students so that they are the smartest in the room.

We are definitely the latter.

FTR. It's not about Kari to me. I don't care if we fire him or keep him tbh. He's not my scapegoat. I definitely haven't enjoyed 80% of the matches he has coached at the last 2 worlds and man did I question some decisions at this tournament (no Galvas, Jasek, Vrana, 3 goalie rotation, Jordan paired with Zboril like an anchor, Knot benched for the same mistake Jordan/Dvorak made in the elimination game, youngest guy was Kaut, Svozil sent packing after 20 minutes)

I did read that Havlat is coming up with a Master Plan... we are over 100 years old and good at hockey (or at least were) with tonnes of history and we're still figuring it out. Basically our master plan is whatever the other nations did 5 years ago.lol We went from being different and unique with our mullets and mood swings to having zero identity.
