Prospect Info: [2023 - 69th] Jacob Fowler (NCAA - Boston College)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

He will get an ELC but I believe he'd have to play in an NHL game to burn a year of it. I also don't think that would be of importance to him, goalies development takes so long that the expectation of being in the NHL before his elc expires would be lofty at best.

I think he'd need to sign a PTO like tuch did to play with laval. If he signed the ELC to play with the habs, he wouldn't be allowed down.

Not so sure that's true. They are a playoff lock and I'm sure there will be an opportunity for a start or three at the end of the year. All depends on when he arrives.
True. Depends how much of a lead they have too. I’m sure they want home ice advantage.

That didn't work out great for Price. He was the reason the Habs lost to Philly in the second round. And for two years after that, Halak was the starter.
I think it was the mental side more than anything. Cause right after they traded Halak, he has a great year and plays over 70 games. It was definitely his confidence

Are we sure Fowler can't pull a Price and become a starter at 20?
I don't see it. Kid is the opposite of Dobes which is good. Highly technical. BUT he has to be quicker. And control how quick he goes on his knees since he's not the biggest goalie out there. I have some doubts. LOVE the pick then. Still love it. But I would be really really careful with him. Frankly...we need a goalie at some point.

I'm really fine with letting Primeau have a go at this playoff run, hopefully he does ok and it helps him get a new start somewhere else this summer,

Not even close.

No prospect since Price really has been. Vasy and Shesterkin have gotten to heights post draft as has Hellebuyck.. but still Price is his own animal.
somehow, I did think that Askarov had that potential....Just like I did think that Wallstedt also could be it too....

Fowler is not Carey Price though

Good news is that we don't need him to be Carey Price. In his Habs era, Carey had to be under a 2.0 GAA every game for just a chance to win, 3goals and we were done.

Now, we would be so much better with a goalie that is playing for 910% and 2.5GAA. That's middle of the pack, top15 in the NHL. Instead we have 3GAA Monty and Dobes and 4.7 Primeau ... with a massive 898% 897% and 836%, that's so bad, straight up trash goaltending.

Main problem this year for Fowler is that all things considered...he wasn't that much tested. High danger chances weren't legion.

Reason why if he comes in...it has to be slow. He will be tested in the AHL. Way more than he ever was.
