Prospect Info: [2023 - 69th] Jacob Fowler (NCAA - Boston College)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Could we do a Ken Dryden if we get in playoffs? Take a page out of Sam Pollock's play book.

Start a blue chip prospect goalie but little scouting reports on him? Play him couple of games down stretch. If we do get in probably be against league best Capitals. Many similarities to 1971.

Monty is gonna start but if after 2 games Monty is playing at the level he’s playing right now, it could be an option

Will be interesting to see what happens as Fowler plays tomorrow at 2 pm, lose and his season is over, though it's pretty rare for the #16 to upset the #1, it happens as Ryan Poehling's team had it happen to them in back to back years.

But Saturday will be a very different story, assuming they win, they could be facing last year's National Champions in DU and Sam Harris. DU beat Fowler in that game and has won 2 of the last 3 years and 3 of the last 7 as they are playing Logan Sawyer's team. Two of the top coaches in the matchup but I got to think DU wins it and that would be one heck of a tough task for Fowler and BC. They have home field and are the top team in the NCAA for a reason as they are so good defensively, have good depth at forward, 2 high end lines and perhaps the best goalie in the NCAA. Their PP is the one weakness as you would think it a strength with Hagens and Leonard/Perreault but it stinks mostly.

So I fully expect BC to win tomorrow, in fact I picked them to go all the way again this year in my pool but if they lose on Saturday, will be very interesting to see what the plans are for him. Would losing this early cause him to change course and go back for another year? Only he would know that and we'll have to see how it plays out but he's now at the point where the next loss could be his last in the NCAA and then things get interesting.

I’ve been to several of these Frozen Four regionals and I can tell you with 100% assurance that there is no possibility that BC loses tomorrow. None. It’s not like an
NHL 1 vs. 16 matchup. The gap in college hockey is way, way bigger between the top and lower seeds.

But they could very well lose Saturday vs DU… potential of Fowler signing his ELC Sunday / Monday.

Game action w Habs next week isn’t out of the realm of possibility IMO..

They lost against Northeastern 2 weeks ago, no?

Why would they risk starting Fowler when every point matters for the foreseeable future? They already have 3 healthy goalies they can use, 2 of which are vets. There’s no way they’re bringing in a brand new rookie in that environment. I don’t care how good he’s supposed to be. They aren’t that desperate. Sorry, but that’s just an insane thought.

Not so sure that's true. They are a playoff lock and I'm sure there will be an opportunity for a start or three at the end of the year. All depends on when he arrives.
What contract does he get? A contract like Tuch where he was signed by Laval or an NHL contract that burns a year off of his contract?

He will get an ELC but I believe he'd have to play in an NHL game to burn a year of it. I also don't think that would be of importance to him, goalies development takes so long that the expectation of being in the NHL before his elc expires would be lofty at best.
