Prospect Info: [2023 - 69th] Jacob Fowler (NCAA - Boston College)

That only applies to pro-players & not amateurs on team's reserve list. Fowler will need to sign an AHL contract though. If he signs an NHL contract for this year, he is ineligible for the AHL play-offs.

So if he plays for Montreal, he can't play for Laval this year. It's next season. If he plays for Laval, he can't play for Montreal this season. It's one or the other.
Habs better off signing Fowler to Laval. But I imagine he is pushing to sign in Montreal. Get to free agency a year quicker

If he was smart, he wouldn't burn a year off his ELC. Goalies take so long to solidify themselves, if you have to sign your extension in 2 years rather than 3, you could be costing yourself a lot of money.

Plus look at Levi in Buffalo who did burn a year and is still in the AHL.
Levi kind of small for NHL goalie though

They should make him join the main team, but not play him unless injuries or something exceptional. Make him practice hard with the big club though, to give a break to Monty who should just do the bare minimum in terms of practice, just to stay in game shape. Laval is fine with Hughes and Primeau.

Did the bruins draft a mega bust with their recent 1st round pick?
3 pts in 36 games is crazy

Kid is prolly mulling his options over.
Seems Sporstnet is saying he might sign for two years in Switzerland, since Monty blocks Montreal and Primeau blocks Laval.

He plays more minutes for now, makes more money immediately, and becomes a free agent at the end of that contract. Thirty two teams will be after him.

They need 2 goaltender in Laval, not 1.

Of course Sportnet is saying that, they wish MTL get screwed by losing the best goaltending prospect in the NHL.

I don't trust that. I mean, Primeau block nobody in Laval. He is an ahler goalie.
And in Fowler's case. Every time he been talking about how Montreal was a perfect fit for him. His family is from here.. he told he wanted to learn french. Althought he is a really good liar. I don't see him signing anywhere else.
