I'm surprised there hasn't been any mention of this trade. Tyce Thompson really has became the forgotten man.

There was - just in the main Devils team discussion thread.

Probably should have posted here.

Any thoughts on Durandeau?

The Comets don't play Bridgeport very often so I don't specifically remember him at all. He put up good numbers last season but is off to a slow start this year so maybe a change of scenery will help both players.

Damn, wish we got in on that, Abbandonato was a pretty productive scoring center in Laval.

Going independent, because NHL teams put their needs ahead of AHL teams’ competitiveness, has really worked out for Chicago.

I looked and Carolina broke down and sent some of their vagabond minor league players to Chicago lol.

I just want to apologize for the last 2 Utica stinkers. It is all on me. I praised them being one of the best defensive teams in the division and conference and gave kudos to Dineen for getting points out of most of the games this year, despite limited forward talent.

Sorry and I won't let it happen again.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You had little to do with it I assure you.

When you play like s--t the results go in the dumpster.

3rd period was the culmination of a total defensive collapse. T-Birds got 3 goals on their first 4 shots of the period and 4 out 6 total shots in the period. Breakaways, 2 on 1, PP 4on3 with no one within sight of the goal scorer tipping a pass in to the top of the net while standing maybe 4 feet from Poulter. Misyul was the closest and he was out near hash mark depth.

Comets are now 1 point from the basement.

Their PP is dead last at #32 and are the only team with a PP% in single digits, 8.9%. 5 goals scored in 56 opportunities! They have given up 1 less SHG (4 )than the 5 they've scored.

Their #4 PK position has fallen to #17 after giving up 3/6 to Springfield and 1 more to Syracuse on Friday. A total of 4 goals in 11 chances. PK% now at 83.6 9 GA in 55 opportunities.

I'm not surprised it happened though. His salary is an embarrassment when looking at his production in 2 seasons. He is a forward who was supposed to score goals. He scored 7 last season in 56 games and most of them came early in the season. He has 0 in 15 GP this season. So that's 7 goals in his last 71 GP!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone waiting for him to snap out of it has been sorely disappointed.

Hell, in only 16 total games in 21-22 he had 6 goals and 15 points. That was the type of production the Devils expected and when he held out before the 22-23 season they gave him a 2-yr, 1-way with a huge kick in year 2 (this year) at $775,000. He hasn't come close to earning that 2nd year's increase and over the 2 seasons he didn't even earn season 1's $175,000.

Actually surprised that Lou went for this deal. Durandeau is on the docket for only $100K. NJ picks up a chunk of free money with the exchange unless they agreed to eat some of that salary.

Historically Arnaud has put up better AHL no.s, but this season has so far has been 1 point less than Thompson, but he has a goal. He's also played 3 less games. Unless he's been injured that's 6 less games than B'port has played which would mean he's been a healthy scratch 6 times.

I see this a ho-hum deal for the Comets unless our newbie starts producing at his past level.

Really, just hoping for anyone that can score a goal. Power play or otherwise.

Utica loses 6 to 3 to Belleville.

Kallgren has been brutal in goal for them almost every game.

Nemec was only a -1 and Misyul was a +/- 0. All of Belleville's goals were even strength too. Makes the stat for them a bit better.

Clarke and Stillman each had a goal.

Goalies are so hard to predict. He was above the water with 90,2% 5 on 5 in nhl two years ago, and he was solid candidate for replacing Schmid after 93%+ in 14 games last season in Toronto. Everything isn't going well for him this season.

Kallgren?

I don’t know, the numbers didn’t give us any reason to be particularly optimistic about him. I hoped the team saw something there that wasn’t in the stats.

But maybe they just grabbed a guy with NHL experience while one was on the market. I would have taken Alex Lyons over him.

I’m sure Toronto agrees that goalies are hard to predict considering the difference between Samsonov’s numbers last season and this year.

There was nothing in Kallgren's numbers that would give me the expectations that he would be an above average AHL goalie. Especially considering he played for a first place Toronto Marlies team last season. Now that he has a defensively challenged team like the Comets playing in front of him it is obvious that he isn't a very good goalie. Whoever his agent is deserves extra credit for getting his client a two way deal with $450K salary in the AHL.

The plus to Kallgren was merely that there was no chance anyone would take him on waivers. They also had a tricky situation with Daws being out half the year and the possibility of Schmid going to Utica if they did pull something off trade-wise.

90% 5on5 2 years ago, 93% year ago in NHL. Even in limited games. Its ok to have this kind of goalie to call him for some games. He wasn't good last season in ahl, but overall he had okay to good career.
Nothing spectacular but its ok to wait some bounce back season from a goalie with his career and his age. I don't think that they had it as a plan A.
