Only 4 players have gotten 100 assists other than McDavid (Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Kucherov) for a total of 14 times (11 by Gretzky)

9 players have scored 69 goals other than Matthews (Gretzky, Lemieux, Esposito, Hull, Mogilny, Selanne, Nicholls, Kurri, Bossy) for a total of 17 occurances.

In the current NHL, which is more difficult?

When was the last time each was done?

1995 for goals?
2024 for assists?

Yeah, wonder why Kucherov is there.
Not like he earned it by going god mode this season. No, not at all.
Kucherov 100% deserves to be there. The three best players in the NHL this year were Kucherov Mackinnon and Matthews. No doubt about it. Not sure of the exact order 😂.

I remember this debate from a few years ago. Peoples opinion tend to change depending on if their players is nominated for the different awards.

And you have offered? Nothing.
He’s actually responded to many comments with actual reasoning, where as you came in with a laughing emoji.

My suggestion, watch games other than Montreal and San Jose. It’s fun to watch star players instead of just middle 6 players all the time.

Small sample size.. still harder to get 100 assists overall. McDavid and Kucherov are just that good.

Another way to put it: Anyone who has ever had 100 assists will most likely end up being a top 30 player ever (depending on Kucherov). Meanwhile, you have guys like Nicholls, Mogilny, Selanne and Kurri who got 69 that are borderline top 100 players ever. The quality is not the same.

Realistically, the votes between these three and McDavid are probably very close, and whoever edged out McDavid for third probably did so with a very slim margin.

It's nice that you like to stick up for your friends and all, but I don't think you need to continue this. Enjoy your night (or day), wherever you are.

It is funny. When Player X in nominated and wins the Heart --Heart is the most important.,

Same player nominated for and wins the lindsey? Lindsey award is the more important. Thought process is not hard here--both sides are doing the same thing

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the futon today
Tempur-pedic actually.

But yeah, I think a 'Matthews?' with a laughing emoji is pretty low effort and indicates that he thinks it's a joke even though it's the players that voted on this. Players view him more favourably than people do here, clearly.

But they aren’t. You’re literally the only one in this thread pushing the narrative.

Why do you keep calling it the heart?
It’s Hart.

You keep pushing this but there were literally people here chirping Matthews when he won the Hart a few years ago, saying it was media bias and he didn't deserve it, and then he won the Lindsay anyway. Same thing here, plenty of people in the Hart and Selke threads making jokes about Matthews, and then the players collectively picked him as the top 3 this season.

Uh, theres been a 60+ goal scorer every season for the last 3 seasons.

And this year?

These awards are given out yearly.

When was the last time that 69+ was hit?

100+ assists?

Goals: 1st = 69, 2nd = 57
Assists: 1st = 100, 2nd = 100

Assists looks like a far bigger accomplishment?

Also, lost in all this, Matthews is a Selke finalist too.
