2023-24 Senators Prospect Watch

Hopefully Yak has a big summer and comes to camp ready to roll.

I’m hoping he’s working with Kettles all summer, could help make a big difference with his skating.
improving his skating will help him. IMO he needs some time to round out his game and identify who is going to be as a player. If he can improve his skating, some decision making wrt risk and defensive game (skating will help here) we'll really have a + player. Its going to be interesting if the Sens allow him another year before making the jump to the NHL.

ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Staios and Green are very cagey! They won't say what they are really trying to do, such as get a top line RW by trading away (fill in the blank). There are many options depending on what other teams are seeking and willing to part with.

I think Yak needs to play against AHL level pro hockey players to develop into an NHL level player. He needs to learn what he can do and cannot do against men. He also needs to fill out and mature. A year in the AHL would probably help him a lot. Taking some special training for skating, etc. would be very useful. Perhaps he should talk to Sanderson's guru to get some suggestions and recommendations too.

From my live viewings of Yak this year he was really inconsistent, which is not ideal. The one thing that I really noticed in the last viewing though was that his skating has become more fluid, which was nice to see.

If he can make some gains with his skating it'll go a long way towards his success in the NHL.

From that one tussle, it appears he likes the rough stuff and has some strength to tussle. We need that type of player on the roster for playoff hockey. Hopefully he can play decent D.
Toure is an intriguing prospect in my opinion.
A 6'7" RHD who can skate & obviously does not shy away at all from the rough stuff.

It seems he was decent in Belleville this year when he was called up from Orlando.
Played half the season in the AHL and looks like he will be full time with the B-Sens next season.

The very definition of a long-term project but I think there might be something here if he can put on about 25lbs. His skating is good for a player his size and brings the nasty element you need in a playoff series.

Sounds like most of our prospects

If he can make strides with his skating he will be more than fine, he'll be a very big piece

I'm not too concerned with straight line speed, I'm hoping for improvements with his starts/stops and pivots

Gets into trouble when he gets turned around and has to accelerate from a stop

Toure turns 22 y/o in a few weeks and plays in the ECHL in an organization that has very few decent prospects... Maybe he's an intriguing prospect to become an AHL player but for the NHL? That would be extremely surprising

Just think of what our D could look like in 3 to 5 years:

Sanderson (6' 3") Hoyt Stanley (6' 3")
Kleven (6' 5") Yakemchuk (6' 5")
Eliasson (6' 7") Toure (6' 7")

Big, Bigger, Biggest.
