2023-24 Senators Prospect Watch

How has Montgomery looked, feels like he's a bit buried on a deep London team. but I really liked him at dev camp.
He's been "ok", caught up in a numbers game so hasn't been getting much of a prominent role the playoffs.

Barkey going down helps as he's jumped up, he's been with Nurmi and Julien the past 2 game, but he was a bottom 6 minute guy up to that point

There is going to be so much eating crow on Dickinson, just like when the Sens Hfboards chose Dobson over Bouchard, he is going to be so mid as as pro.

Dobson isn't mid and there's probably not much of a difference between him and Bouchard as a player, if at all.

If Dickinson ends up a Dobson level player, the Sharks should be pretty damn happy. I'd be thrilled with that outcome for Yakemchuk too.

Weird post.

That’s not too weird a post, at the bare minimum I understand what is trying to be displayed there, agree with it or not is another thing. You were wrong before you will be wrong again, I get that.

What is a weird post is somehow conflating Kindel “struggling” at the U-18’s compared to his time in Calgary as him being away from Yakemchuk, that’s bizarre and I really don’t understand it whatsoever, I had assumed it was a joke.

Dobson was one of the league's best D-men last season, he was disappointing this year because the Isles as a whole sucked.

No question he was disappointing but yeah when the top scoring forward on your team has 57 points it's tough to put up elite numbers.

I don't think there's a more stark contrast in terms of offensive surrounding cast than Bouchard vs. Dobson.

You swap the two and have Dobson on the PP with McDavid and Draisaitl and there numbers would look drastically different.

Ellinas had a very Ostapchuk like D+1 season.

So-so, somewhat disapointing season offensively in the regular season, and then had a very good playoffs

He's not a guy who is offense only, so he's got a lot of rope, like Ostapchuk does/did.

He may get an invite to the summer camp for the WJ's, will be someone they look at in the very least in a 4th line role

I am not sure where all this chest pounding is coming from on Dobson vs Bouchard. Lots of people liked Bouchard.

There is no question Dobson had a down year after coming off a 70 pt season the year before and Bouchard plays on a better team. Oilers were a +23 team and the isles were a -36 team. The Oilers were a 23.72% power play good for 12th best .. The Isles were 12.56 31st . A good PP makes a huge difference to point production Bouchard had 26 PP points compared to Dobson's 12. The year before it was 35 to 24. I think most people would have always put Bouchard ahead offensively anyway. The knock if any has been on his defense and earlier on his skating despite the impressive point production.

The 2018 draft which I think the comments originate from Dobson was highly ranked and his DY (6th by Bob) Four of 10 scouts surveyed by TSN have Dobson in their top five. Bouchard was 7th.. pretty much even.
Dobson's DY was outstanding culminating with a Memorial cup win where he was an absolute stud so there is no wonder he had people liking him at draft time

Still not sure what the point is here... Is it if you liked Dobson over Bouchard you were wrong because? proving what exactly? People are not always right about draft piks. Pretty petty. Wow . Does this somehow relate to Yakemchuk? Are there lines to draw? You were wrong about Dobson so you are probably wrong about Yakemchuk is that it?

Dobson was seen as the more NHL ready Dman, and Bouchard was seen as having more potential.

Kindel has been struggling away from Yakemchuk at the U18. He looks so pedestrian, getting outplayed by guts who produced way less,

I don't think his play at the U18s has anything to do with Yakemchuk. It wasn't like those two were some dynamic duo. If anything, he's struggling (if that's even the case) being away from Tulk.
