2023-24 Senators Prospect Watch

There seems to be a narrative that the Hitmen were a poor offensive team and has been described here as anemic and lack luster
I would think that would have to stand up in relation to other teams in the WHL. This of course is likely used to defend Yakemchuk's lack of production but I had to check.

Calgary scored 266 goals in 2024-25. Their best season while Yakemchuk has been there

How does that compare to other WHL teams . IE teams in the same league

Only 1 team in their conference (Eastern) scored more goals. Medicine Hat 1/10 other teams in the conference had more goals.

The WHL schedule is 68 games including 1 game vs each team in the other conference.

In the Western Conference 3/11 teams scored more goals. so out of 22 teams Calgary was 5th in goals scored.

Something like 57/68 games vs teams that they out scored over the season.

Yakemchuk' +/- also does not reflect the narrative of an improved defensive game... All of those +'s were accumulated in the last 10 games of the season. Yakemchuk was still giving up goals at a high rate while he wasn't producing at high rate especially considering he is in his 19 y/o season or last U20 season.

While there is evidently questions on just how poor we are told the Calgary offense was (2nd best in their conference) there is no question they had a hugely improved goal differential +83. We should have seen this reflect in Yakemchuk's improved defensive numbers.

Montgomery now with 2g and 1a 6-2 London

Looks like they took 1 away. Announcers even had him at 2 saying 3 in his last 2 games and looking for the hattrick in this one.

I’m sure people can’t hold their excitement for the annual prospects ranking!

Montgomery will get some more ice time and chances with Barkey likely out for the series, and possibly playoffs.

London will be in the Mem cup, barring a pretty big collapse. They are so good.

Goalie is an issue, but they have the best D and forwards in the CHL by a substantial margin.

Second rounder. Apparently he’s taken some atrocious penalties

I've only caught a few Barrie playoff games, but Eliasson was barely playing in those too. He doesn't get any special teams time, he doesn't play when they're trailing and they are very cautious with his usage when they're tied or ahead by one or two.

He doesn't seem to have any sort of off-switch. Every shift for him seems to be a 50/50 proposition about whether he'll take a roughing or cross-checking penalty.

Defence Greig?

This talk is great but I come hear to read about Dickenson
Dickens Son is probably what you meant. I like Charles Dickens . I am led to believe he had more than one son.. but this one has some Candian history.

.. Dickinson talk can now be found in the General Prospects thread on this board. He's not even at 2 pts a game in the playoffs so you might be disappointed.
