Kopitar got 2 points but turned it over like crazy.. Byfield needs more touches... time to transition him onto the PK as well

Just another game with the usual “beat the kings” playbook

Just another game the kings were probably good enough to kick the shit out of a .500 team

But just another game where they aren’t good enough to beat a contender.

The patterns aren’t changing, there are no adjustments. First round exit inbound. Could have written the script for this game before it started it’s that predictable.

This was a game where one team played near-mistake free hockey in their own zone.

This was always going to be a low scoring game with VGK playing that way. Kings would've had to match that level of D-zone play and grind out a 1-1 hockey game, but ultimately LA wasn't as sharp in their own end.

I'm actually kind of positive because the PLD line is starting to look like a real line and that's the key to everything. I'm a bit concerned about Kopi's play recently.

Season series against VGK ends at 1-1-1. Two of the three games were in Vegas where they're 13-3-2.

There's not a single non-wildcard-team in the West I think the Kings would beat in a series. They've looked lame/limp vs. all of them. Just don't have the attention to detail, the desire, the dig-in to win a hard game. Their high end talent is lower, and their will/checking is lower. They can get by on talent vs. the non playoff teams but that's it. Once THOSE teams decide to play defense you end up with games like the one vs. Seattle.

When the checking gets tighter the Kings just hang around wherever they won't get hit and fire shots at people and pray they'll get out of the way. They desperately need a bulldozer.

Not optimistic. Same recipe, same cake as the last few years. Just a few more decorations on top. They'll finish with more points, and they'll exit exactly as quickly, and that's the peak of the mountain for this group. Wonder how many years we'll get of blackholing after.

The playbook is simple.

Also, 1-4-1 on back to backs. These guys apparently need the perfect rested scenario to play their best. Good thing January is 15 games in 31 days. We are about to see what this franchise is made of from the front office to the coaching onto the ice. It's crunch time; will Blake deliver? Will TM learn to adjust? Will the players start to get dirty?
