Just not sure how you can say Coyle and Zacha are a fine 1-2 play-off caliber center combo until they do it for more than 3 games in a series they lost.
I do not believe Zacha and Coyle were the reason they lost that series, maybe they would have been contributors that helped win it..........

Is it smart though going into next season with that much reliance on Poitras developing at a rate to fill the need at C?
I would be very cautious with that thought.........

I wasn't intimating that they were the reason. I don't know if they will be proven to be capable 1-2 centers that will get you the Cup, which is still the goal.

My opinion is that many fans in this town will not be happy until they go all out and get get a so called #1 center like a Lindholm type, and until they do Zacha and Coyle will always be ripped for not being just that no matter how they play. Lat year the Bruins did not lose because of those two players, playing injured players like Ullmark, Begeron, when it was not necessary up 3 games too 1......... I don't know if Management was in on the decision to play them or was it a just a coaches decision, and I am Bergeron had his say about playing which might seem like a decision that many like to admire for his willingness to tough it out, but when you cannot perform I think the decision should have been different. This might sound like monday morning quarterbacking , but bringing back Krecji last year was a mistake, not because of his play, but it put off a moves that needed to be made then for the future and now the Bruins this season struggled in cap hell all year. Those bonuses they had to pay this year has hurt them, Bergey was already here, Krecji was gone and should not have been brought back it was his decision to leave.

Just bringing this to the correct thread.

The top part where you mention Zacha moves to LW when a top line center is acquired is my ideal scenario on a couple fronts.

1. I think Zacha is a better winger than center and that’s no disrespect to him at center. I just feel he is a better and more natural wing.

2. Marchand is getting older and they need to bump him down a little bit.

Bringing in a center with ullmarks return and whatever sweeteners we need to add will really solidify the top 6.

Zacha-(insert new center)-pasta
Marchand-Coyle-Debrusk
Frederic-poitras-lysell
Brazeau-Beecher-geekie

I don't see Poitras and Lysell being linemates. One on the 2nd line, one on the 3rd line.

Is what we’ll likely see if they don’t sign any UFAs at all, all summer, and make no trades. basically unpossible but fun to think about

Lots to love about these lines IMO. Love Beecher getting a look on the third line, his offense has been better then advertised this year and I think his speed does that line a lot of good. Plus having both Freddy and Beecher on the wings helps Geekie a lot defensively.

Maroon practicing in a non-contact is good to see, but I assume him taking Pasta's spot instead of one of the 4th line wing spots means that he isn't gonna be in for tomorrow's game. Love the top 4 of Lindolm-Mac, Lohrei-Carlo. Depending on Lohrei's development that could very well be the long term top 4 for us for the next like 5 years.

Agree on the forwards, but the deployments of the D are interesting in these pairings. Don't think you want to bury Lorhei/Carlo like you do Lindholm/Carlo. So you are taking some offensive zone starts away from McAvoy and giving them to Carlo in hopes that you can get more out of Lindholm that way.

Yup and then Merkulov is either DeBrusk or (hopefully) a bigger upgrade. Or, maybe the LD you bring in is on the cheaper side and you bring back both DeBrusk and another top 6 forward and Geekie finds himself on the 4th serving as a top 9 backup if Poitras/Lysell falter or injury. Don't see where Merkulov fits unless he beats out Poitras or Lysell in camp.

The handling of Maroon will be interesting and a tough one, as 2 guys are going to have to leave to activate him, so I will assume they will hold off as long as they feel they can, while also getting him up to speed

Believe we only need to send down one guy to activate Maroon. He makes 800k, and capfriendly shows us with around 60k in space right now. So sending down any of Brazeau, Lohrei, or Beecher gives them enough space to activate Maroon.

Merkulov on the top line is not fun to think about. They should have 25M+ to resign their RFAs and bring in a top line center, second pair physical D ( Zadarov or Dillon) and a couple physical depth forwards (Duhaime, Dakota Johnson)

OK, yeah, i forgot there was 200K retained on him. He makes 1 million, but the 200K retention saves us

What Vegas odds could you have gotten with Maroon and Heinen on line 2 in July?

If Bruins sign Graf and with Poitras showing he can play in the NHL. Do the Bruins really need to sign a UFA centerman?

They need to add a 1st line talent to the forward group. I, personally, don't think it has to be at C. But they only have 2 1st line players in the top six and one of them is clearly regressing. DeBrusk not continuing the progression that had him looking like a low end 1st line forward really has f***ed things up.

Preferably a center but yes they need a clear cut top line player imo.

We have so much money to play with this summer, doing nothing and running with these lines would be borderline malpractice on Sweeney's part lol. I still think If you can add Lindholm at a reasonable price this summer you do it without much hesitation, and I'd also try to re-sign Debrusk if he accepts something around 6mil.

Do those 2 signings, re-sign Swayman and Bussi to be your tandem, and move Ullmark for picks and you still have enough space to make an addition to the backend as well.
