This season I'll just update the first post each Monday instead of a copy/paste of a table each time.

Just for clarity, the following is written about Liukas and it's contrary to my info:
>>>
Liukas is expected to play for Bridgeport this season after scoring 14 goals with nine assists in 58 games with HPK Hameenlinna.
<<<

He's on loan to HPK and scheduled to play Liiga this year.

In fact, I think there's a technicality in the NHL's agreement with European leagues (or directly with Finland's ice hockey association) that prohibits Liukas from coming over already this season.
I believe this is the same circumstance that got Simon Holmstrom to Bridgeport in his age 18-19 season.

Fun story I heard from a guy who’s friends with Calle Odelius. First day of training camp Lou told odelius to cut his hair since Lou thought it too long. On second day of camp odelius was told to go back to the hairdresser since his hair was still too long and that he wasn’t allowed on the ice until his hair was of an acceptable length. Once back from his second visit at the hairdresser odelius couldn’t find his gloves at his seat. Apparently Lou had taken them because odelius made some cuts in them for comfort. Lou is a firm believer in respect for the gear and cutting gloves is not allowed. When odelius asked one of the staff members where his gloves was, he was told “Lou’s got them. You probably won’t get them back.”

Apparently Marcus Kruger (former black hawk and teammate of odelius in Stockholm) told him to cut his hair before going, but I guess odelius had to learn about Lou the hard way.

Nice Story! Kinda points out why Lou needs to step down IMO, he cares more about the off ice appearance than the on ice product.

Come on, this isn't new. He did the same things while winning the Cups in NJ.

Sure. However, last one was in 2003. That is over 20 years ago. The new generation of player doesn't respond to this kind of garbage. There is no reason a player shouldn't be able to modify his equipment for comfort or have facial hair. This isn't the military. Its hockey. It's entertainment.

Weight/Capuano was entertainment. This isn't the military? No, the pay is SIGNIFICANTLY higher with far less risk to your body. If you can't accept a haircut . . . don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. The players don't run the asylum.

What I was going to add to that previous post was I would hope he would evolve with the game and the players but just thought it would be too long of a post to bother. What worked yesterday doesn’t always work today. Darryl Sutter might be a good example of yesterdays ways don’t translate well today.

Lou has absolutely let Clutterbuck take the ice with more than stubble. I have no issues with his rules, I just think he cherry picks them.

Cool story, a bit extreme, but not surprised. Lou probably has hidden cameras following these guys.

Have any of the young players (or any player really) demonstrated a major issue with these rules in the 5+ years that Lou's been here?

He may be the diamond in the rough here. They drafted him crazy early in his development, but I wouldn't be surprised if Finley becomes a player here.
Yea he was just 17 when drafted, had a good year last year in the ushl. Wasn't able to watch any games so I look forward to see what he looks like this year in college.

Have you ever heard anything interesting come out of the mouths of any Islander? The Islanders are by design boring in every facet. They are not allowed to stand out in any way. That's the Lou way. That's the only way.

Barzal has been pretty good and very personable in offseason interviews 'n stuff.

He's actually one of the guys the league should be looking to market more...

I can say that among those who busy themselves with the prospect world (i.e. and write about it), Finley is seen as one of the three most interesting prospects in an Islanders system that generally has few admirers.

Most especially the USHL crowd is thoroughly convinced of his shot. As in, basically no doubt it's NHL level stuff.

Even if you don’t agree with it, you have to like the discipline aspect of it. And you can’t tell me that as a fan you didn’t smile or laugh when you read the story.
