Mckenzie entwhistle
Boris Katchouk

Daniil Miromanov from Vegas is one I've wondered about but with his recent injury history I wouldn't be shocked if he got through

Lassi Thompson and Egor Sokolov from the Sens are 2 others that come to mind

Raphael Lavoie is the one Oiler fans are worried about. He’s a 6’4 22 year old who was ~PPG the second half of the year last year in the AHL. There’s a good chance he makes the team though
Niemelainen is another that could be on waivers. With his size and physical play I can very easily see a team taking a chance on him if/when he goes on waivers.

if healthy ending Trailing Camp,
NYR will only have NHL rosters spots for

2 depth D, from among these waivers-required d-men
Zac Jones, Eric Gustafsson, Ben Harpur, Connor Mackey, Ty Emberson Mac Hollowell

at Forward, presuming Bonino and Pitlick break camp w NYR,
all of these F's may need be waived
Alex Belzile, Jonny Brodzinski, Riley Nash, Anton Blidh, Jake Leschschyn, Turner Elson

also G Louis Domingue

Didn't he go to Russia?? Swear I seen that.

Fun thread, I did something like this last year. Maybe I will compile a list of all the names posted here.

For Ottawa:
- Jacob Bernard-Docker (90% chance he makes the team; likely claimed)
- Egor Sokolov (one of 6-8 guys fighting for a job or two; could be claimed)
- Lassi Thomson (99% chance he's waived; highly doubt he's claimed)

Not too many interesting options from the Devils. Nolan Foote will requires waivers to get sent down but it looks like he'll have the inside track to one of the 14 NHL forward spots. But barring injury/suspension elsewhere in the lineup, Foote might be a healthy scratch. Tyce Thompson likely gets waived, not sure if another team would take a flyer on him. Thompson looked on track to be an NHL depth C/RW but had a tough 2022-23 season in the AHL. He's on a one way deal for this year for cheap (762K). And it's probable that Chris Tierney gets sent down, he could be somebody's 13/14th forward if there are injuries in camp and a team wanted an NHL vet.

Nobody of note on Nashville other than old dudes.

Novak the only "young" player that is no longer waiver exempt but he's a lock to make the team.
What's your read on Novak? How do you project him? Do you think he fits the culture that Nashville is trying to build, and do you think there's a long-term fit?

Thanks in advance or, if you don't wanna answer, no worries!

He was on fire last year but jury still out if it's sustainable. I like his play a lot though and think he fits in nicely here.

Sabres, Brett Murray. Big body. Can be physical and the Sabres could use a net front guy. But there's a ceiling with skill that may mean he gets waived to Rochester.

Edit to add its very possible that Jacob Bryson and/or Eric Comrie hit the waiver wire, if not at the start of the season, sometime during. Sabres have 9 defensemen and Bryson just had a disappointing season. Isn't worth 1.85. And Comrie probably isn't worth 1.8. Given their salaries they can probably both slide through.

Boston will end up waiving one of Zboril or Ian Mitchell. The former makes more (con) and can play both sides (pro). I would expect either to clear easily.

In Detroit, Reimer or Lyon will go on waivers before the season starts. Both are probably picked up.

Lassi Thomson will be claimed by several teams with high priority if he’s waived. Low risk claim, some upside those GMs can sell to ownership and the fan base.

Might be lack of exposure from me, but apart from being a former first, he looks a lot like all the talented players people are sure will get claimed but clears that we see every year.

Not sure someone want to use a NHL roster spot on him.

Jeeez. Waivers really snuck up on Lavoie. Feels like he was just getting draft the other day. But i guess part of that has just been taking his time in really finding his footing as a scorer at the pro level. Definitely an interesting decision for the Oilers. You probably want him in a scoring role, but he might not be fully ready for that at the NHL level. Does seem like a cheap depth guy that they might just keep around rather than risk losing.

Niemelainen is another that could be on waivers. With his size and physical play I can very easily see a team taking a chance on him if/when he goes on waivers.

Niemelainen is another interesting one. Teams always want big defencemen like that. But he's kind of hovering right at the fringes of being a real NHL defenceman still, and as a younger guy...i'm not sure it does much good for anyone to claim him only to have him sitting in the press box most nights.

JBD would absolutely be claimed if he hits waivers. Lassie Thomson is an interesting one though, in that he's in that awkward spot where he hasn't really established he's an NHLer yet...but there's potential there. Is there a team that would actually burn a roster spot on him right now, knowing that he's probably not entirely ready and might actually end up stunting his development if you press him into that role too soon?

It also raises a question of whether the Sens might be a team that moves someone, maybe even JBD just to get out of this waivers situation. He'd have value of some kind in a swap...but i'm not sure what Ottawa would really want out of it. Generally i'd assume it's a Forward in a similar waivers position...but the Sens don't necessarily need or have tons of room for more bodies up front either.

I do really get that, but the way I see it anyone with an injury or any bottom feeder could very well take him on.

Bottom feeder could take him on to see if he can continue to develop and potentially either be a fit or used as trade bait down the road.

He could also be one of those guys that gets waived to a new team and then waived again returning to the Oilers a month down the road.
