Can you make him score more? Thanks in advance.
That will be a problem here if he can't manufacture some offense on his own. This team the past 2 seasons (they have only been here for 3) has not had strong offensive performers that he could benefit from. NJ doesn't seem interested in signing those kind of support players unless the team possesses a number of prospects that they deem as high potential players as they had here in season 1. Next year doesn't have those kind of prospects. It has actually hurt Clarke and Stillman this season and only stands to be the same next year.

Clarke will be subject to waivers and unless he makes the Devils could end up claimed though I'm not high on that possibility. He could also be part of an off season trade deal as an extra piece.

I was very happy to notice the U. Maine Black Bears ranked 8th or 7th nationally, positioned for an NCAA berth and to be seen on ESPN+ streaming on Saturday in their tournament game against UNH.

Taking a page from the Shawn Walsh teams that thrived with Canadian kids, two brothers Nadeau from New Brunswick just over the Aroostook County border at leading the way. They got a featured articled today in the Kennebec Journal. Will try to edit to paste the link.

Edit: if it's not behind a paywall - see Section C Page 3 (page C3)

Josh Filmon had a shorthanded secondary assist , was +1 with 3 shots & 10 PIM (Misconduct) in the Broncos' 8 to 4 win. Would of liked to see him have more than a measly secondary assist but whatever. The Broncos are 2nd in their conference and the playoffs will be soon as well. That will be a real test for Filmon.

Edwards blew up a gophers dman last night on an offensive rush. Can’t find anyone who posted the video; he can really skate.

Friday Night Prospect Report

Cam Squires had a secondary assist on the powerplay , 1 shot on goal , was a -1 with 1 hit in the Eagles' 4 to 3 win.

Josh Filmon did not play in the Broncos' 7 to 6 win for some reason. Probably injury related is my guess.

Hockey East Tournament

Charlie Leddy had 1 secondary assist (5v5) & was a +2 in Boston College's 8 to 1 win over UMASS Amherst. The final game of the tournament is tonight (Saturday) vs BU.

Saturday Prospect Recap

Cam Squires had the game winning breakaway goal in overtime off of a Hail Mary pass out of the defensive zone ! He also had a primary powerplay assist to tie the game in the 3rd period. To go along with that he had 3 shots on goal , was a +1 with 1 hit & was 0 for 1 in the faceoff dot. Somehow he was not a 1st 2nd or 3rd Star this game. The Eagles won 3 to 2 in overtime and yet somehow the losing team (Charlottetown Islanders) had all 3 of the Stars of the Game. Nine of those 3 players had ANY points either , thats some mind-boggling stuff lol.

Cole Brown was a +1 with 2 shots in the Bulldogs' 4 to 3 overtime loss.

Josh Filmon had 1 primary 5v5 assist , was a +1 with 4 shots , 2 PIM & was 0 for 2 in the faceoff dot in the Broncos' 6 to 3 loss.

Hockey East Championship

Charlie Leddy put up all 0's for stats across the board but Boston College won 6 to 2 over their biggest rival BU to win the Hockey East Championship. The team is rolling heading into the NCAA tournament this weekend and must be the favorite to win the whole thing. BC has a stacked roster so Leddy will just need to focus on the defensive side of the game as that seems to be what he is known for.

Big Ten Championship

Michigan lost to Michigan State 5 to 4 in overtime. Disappointing end for our Michigan prospects but they still qualified for the National Tournament.

Seamus Casey was a -4 (yikes) with 1 secondary powerplay assist & 2 shots on goal.

Ethan Edwards had 1 5v5 secondary assist , was a +2 with 1 shot on goal.

I watched the highlights and Casey wasn't really directly at fault for any of the goals against outside of maybe 1. Michigan's goalie let in a few he would want back for sure.

Last home game of the year, my guess is those are older players who are graduating out of juniors and getting a chance to go on the ice, wave at the crowd and get weepy.

North Dakota / Michigan will be a tasty first round matchup. Also sets up a potential rematch of last night's Big 10 championship game if Michigan and Michigan State advance.

Ethan Edwards quietly being a defense specialist with strong skating ?

From the bits I've watched, Edwards seems to have picked up an extra gear with his skating this year. But I think he'll need some AHL time. I haven't liked some of his reads which he can get away with against college competition. For good and bad, he seems to be more eager to join the rush / go for the big hit this year.

Tough to be a defensive specialist in the NHL at 5'10".

With Edwards and Casey the Devils would be running the most undersized defensive unit in the league.

He's listed on Michigan's site at 5'11 now. I never thought of him as undersized but maybe because the Wolverines have a smaller blue line and Edwards didn't stick out.

Maybe a weird comparison, but some recent Edwards games reminded me a bit of seeing Parker Wotherspoon in juniors. He and Brandon Carlo on the same blue line in the WHL. Carlo had a pretty simple but effective game as a stay at home D. Whereas Wotherspoon was frenetic and all over the place. Didn't realize until now that Wotherspoon was reunited with Carlo on the Bruins this year.

Yeah Edwards is definitely undersized, the 5'11" on Michigan's site is probably doing him a favor. I've always liked his skillset, especially his skating, but he seems like the type of guy who's going to find a home with an organization that lacks talent/mobility on the backend.

Just feels like he'll fall into Reilly Walsh territory where the Devils already have a contingent of more talented players who fit a similar mold.

He plays different than most of what NJ has. I don’t think they cast him aside, I think they want him in the organization.
