Maybe if he wasn't 30 years old, terrible defensively and addicted to video games.Walman was easily a 50+ point guy running our PP1. Maybe we should bring him back.

So, basically he’s a younger me.Maybe if he wasn't 30 years old, terrible defensively and addicted to video games.
Terrible defensively, but you're excellent at being offensive! (jk)So, basically he’s a younger me.
While declining to 55th among defensemen this season in even strength points. You want to give up assets and commit six years to someone already declining in productivity before 25? Seems like a poor decision. So still clear top pairing even strength production then?
You can teach it but you can also fail to teach it to individuals who just don't get it at that level. It's probably a column A / column B situation, which makes him a great target for a fresh start. Distressed asset or whatever it's called.
I'll admit i;m infatuated with the physical skills. You can't teach that, but you can teach responsibility and defense.
I don't know if Marner's the guy I'd want to be the trigger guy. Ekblad would bring a lot of useful elements that I'd be okay with signing if it's to a reasonable deal. I don't know if PP trigger is one of them though.Marner? Ekblad?
And I think Kmiller can get it. I think he needs a wake up call and will perform. You can teach it but you can also fail to teach it to individuals who just don't get it at that level.
Exactly. If you don't trust your coaching and development staff to get more out of a 25 year old defenseman with these tools what are we even doing here?
You can trust your coaching and development and still understand that not every 25 year old is going to work within our organization in this manner. We just had two 25 year olds in Kostin and Liljegren go through that and not give more. It's still a matter of identifying the right player being the right fit. Miller could also fall into the category of someone who overperformed once and tricking people into thinking he's better than he is.And I think Kmiller can get it. and like Hodge said
I trust Warso and co to get a young player like Kmiller to commit the team identity and be part of the future. He was playing for a stuffy legacy franchise that couldn't get out of its own way, clinging to the fleeting talents of guys who overperformed once and tricked everyone into thinking they were better than they are (50 goal Kreider, the idea that Zibanejad is a cup winning #1, that Fox truly is a perennial Norris guy). They had a boring old coach who got canned as well.
I see the warm embrace of San Jose, a fun team with a hardworking and team-first mentality being a perfect for a guy like Miller. We should be proud of and flex the culture that's being built around this young core of guys.
Kostin and Liljegren are barely NHL players (Kostin clearly is not). Ridiculous to compare either to Miller. You can trust your coaching and development and still understand that not every 25 year old is going to work within our organization in this manner. Sure, and if Grier IDs him as not someone like Lily and Kostin, rather someone with the right mix, and he makes a move for him, we should trust that it's the right call. I'm weary of another Kostin situation too, especially if the price is actually meaningful. You can trust your coaching and development and still understand that not every 25 year old is going to work within our organization in this manner. It happens at all levels of caliber. Jokiharju in Boston is 25 and still having the same issues with consistency and availability but is pretty clearly an NHL'er. Dobson is clearly an NHL'er and regressed at 25. Romanov is also clearly an NHL'er at 25 and has pretty much stayed consistent with what he is. There are numerous examples at various levels.Kostin and Liljegren are barely NHL players (Kostin clearly is not). Ridiculous to compare either to Miller.
Jokiharju has always been trash. Putting up fewer points =/= regressing, if anything Dobson took a huge step forward defensively this year. Romanov has also taken huge strides since the Islanders acquired him. He went from being a one trick pony in Montreal to a bonafide top pair defensive dman.It happens at all levels of caliber. And Dobson regressed in others. Romanov has been on the island for three seasons now. Last year wasn't some massive progression for him from his previous two seasons. Just stop pretending like being 25 is some surefire thing to have progression beyond that because it very clearly isn't. No more smurfs.I saw on Twitter the wild want a late first for Rossi. Would be insane to not jump on that I have always loved his game
We know how you feel, but I’m sure Grier can find some more plugs to hit people if he wants to. Young talent is not so easy to getNo more smurfs.
So why is Minnesota looking to unload him? You don't win Cups with players like Rossi. We know how you feel, but I’m sure Grier can find some more plugs to hit people if he wants to. Young talent is not so easy to get
Bill Guerin is a terrible GMSo why is Minnesota looking to unload him? You don't win Cups with players like Rossi.
Or he realizes paying this one dimensional smurf the 7x7 contract he's reportedly demanding would be insane.Bill Guerin is a terrible GM
Bill Guerin literally just traded up in the draft to select your favorite player, noted Smurf (TM) Zeev BuiumOr he realizes paying this one dimensional smurf the 7x7 contract he's reportedly demanding would be insane.
It doesn't take a flawless genius of a GM to watch the playoffs and figure out paying a 5'9 "center" 7 million a year is a sucker's bet.Bill Guerin literally just traded up in the draft to select your favorite player, noted Smurf (TM) Zeev Buium
He simple doesn't have a concrete plan, he's bad at his job
I don't think Rossi is a great player either, though he is an upgrade for the Sharks at center given how shit our roster isIt doesn't take a flawless genius of a GM to watch the playoffs and figure out paying a 5'9 "center" 7 million a year is a sucker's bet.
I further my case that you don't need STL in your name to know you're from St. LouisCool. And I said the last decade which encompasses a SCF, WCF, and 2 more playoff years because 1) it's true and 2) I understand that the last 6 years were abysmal. Either learn how to read or don't straw man the argument into something that is not remotely attributable to what I said.
Smith + late first or 2nd for Rossi is fair.
