Speculation: 2023-24-25 Sharks Roster Discussion

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
Two way street. He's going to want a clearer path to NHL playing time than we can probably provide. That's a big factor in these types of college UFAs making their decisions on where to sign.
He could easily get playing time with the sharks, basically the same deal with graf.

Trade:
-OTT 2nd for Mason Marchment (Dallas is in a cap crunch, we can either extend Marchment or recoup the pick at the deadline)
OK
-EDM 1st and Bystedt for Maveric Lamoureux (Likely an overpay but need to give Utah a reason to move him, they get a big C prospect to replace Geekie and a trade chip to improve the NHL roster)
Let's save that powder for acquiring defensemen. The Sharks have too many forwards as it is.
Sign (rounding up AFP's "worst tax state" projections):
-Dante Fabbro 3x4M
Grier could have had him for free; don't think there is interest
-Alex Iafallo 3x4M
-Nick Bjugstad 2x4.5M
Why sign two more 4th line forwards?
-Alex Lyon 2x2M
Sure

The sharks should try to get Dougie Hamilton out of New Jersey, and maybe take on a contract like Korpisalo in exchange for picks.

Lamoureux is a defenseman. I think you may be confusing him with Bourque's son. Same first name but spelled differently.

There may be. The Sharks were linked to Fabbro the previous trade deadline 2 years ago (granted due to Quinn).

I'll amend it: Let's save that powder for an established, good defenseman...

I get that Lamoreux is a giant. But he's put up very underwhelming numbers in his career, and even his AHL numbers don't inspire much awe.

You're probably right about Marchment. Maybe throw in Colorado's or even our own 2026 2nd?

I figure Utah is set on the right side for a while with Durzi, Kesselring and Marino. Maybe they're better off using Lamoureux in a trade for an established NHL center but this feels like good value for him. He's not exactly killing it in the AHL.
My read as the resident Utah fan is they aren't looking for futures. They need young, win now pieces
