Speculation: 2023-24-25 Sharks Roster Discussion

Feel like any time Pierre tweets about the Sharks, it happens. Not sure if that is different under Grier as opposed to DW (think DW was his personal source), but me thinks something happens here.

Also, may or may not be pertinent, but talked with a buddy who knows the Kunin family here in STL. Sounds like he can't wait to be traded out of SJ. Makes the Giles deal make some more sense I think as he seems to be a for sure goner and someone needs to fill that lineup spot on the 4th line.
It's a well known fact that Warsofsky hates Americans almost as much as he hates Russians...:sarcasm:

I know Kunin has been a little better this year, but I can't wait for him to no longer be a Shark. I get so irrationally annoyed when I check the boxscore of some game we got blown out in, hoping the 1 or 2 goals we scored resulted in a point for Mack, Smith or Eklund and instead I see Kunin from Grundstrom or something.
Where my annoyance factor kicks in is when we make a stretch pass to a player going in alone on the goaltender, only to immediately groan when I realize it's Badrow or Kunin and that nothing good is going to happen.

And unless they are on AHL roster at noon pt tomorrow they cannot be demoted for the rest of the season.

Same. She got mad when i had the audacity to “rightfully” say Smith was gonna struggle this season.
Same exact thing here, thought I don't even think I predicted how he would do. Just had the temerity to suggest that he was not on Celebrini's level at that point in time which......he wasn't.

Kunin, like Sturm, is a player who has utility, and can be a contributor to a well-constructed team that can put him in a depth position that allows him to focus on his strengths in a manner complementary to his better teammates.

The problem is that his limitations make it difficult to construct such a roster. Outside of that, Kunin just kind of exists, doing some things that may or may not have value, but which are kind of obvious (he hits people and very occasionally scores goals, mostly by taking advantage of fortuitous rebounds around the net, where his size and strength work), while his limitations are important but mostly vaguely obscured (he's a poor skater, a poor decision-maker, poor defensively, has no ability to catch a pass, can't handle the puck at the level of a legitimate NHL forward, is a poor shooter).

I'm hoping for a 5th out of Kunin. Maybe we'll get really lucky and some team will hopelessly overvalue him.

Kunin should get at least a 3rd or Kunin and a 5th for a 3rd. He has much more value than Sturm. If they are holding him out for trade reasons than it is likely Grier found multiple teams willing to meet his price.
