Speculation: 2023-24-25 Sharks Roster Discussion

If Florida wants to be more efficient with their cap and spend less in goal I was wondering if Bob would be a potential option for next season.

He is also Russian would be a great goalie for Askarov to learn from. The Sharks could take on his entire cap hit.

It’s crazy to think that the Sharks players are actually developing under this coaching staff. I just don’t get the hate on Warsofsky when the important future players are showing wonderful positive development.
It's almost like prospects who are actually worth a damn like Graf and Mukhamadullin develop just fine in the Sharks system while the Bordeleaus and Gushchins flop because they suck ass as players.

On a side note: can we talk about Mukh's play for a minute?

Smith, Celly, Eklund, all have been playing great. theres lots of talk about Ferraro's improvement raising his trade value. Lots of chatter about alot of guys, but the most exciting thing to me has been Mukh's emergence.

Our D has been the obvious problem for years. When mukh came up initially, he was shaky. His decision making was so so, his physicality was lacking, and he didnt look all that ready, kinda like Smith in the first half. However, much like Smith, Mukh seems to have found his game. He's made a ton is small, subtle, smart plays in his own zone moving plays up the wall, getting good body positions, using his length, and also helping out in the O zone too. The last four games, hes averaging over 20 mins/gm, and has 4 pts, and +4 against quality teams on the road. In fact, since the 4 nations, he hasnt had a minus game yet (5 pts, and +5 in those 6 games all at Even strength)

He is emerging as a real top 4 Dman! I wonder if we might be able to pencil him in, going forward, among the top 4 with much great confidence? If so, that's a huge evolution. I think we really ought to be talking about his emergence as much as Smith or others. He's revolutionizing the roster in real time...
Still a work in progress back there. He's getting to the play and stopping it, but still very reactive rather than anticipatory. Needs to continue growing there (and also growing in terms of mass). He's definitely getting better though and should be penciled into the NHL lineup for opening night next year. Where exactly he should be in that lineup is very much TBD.

I can't wait to see all the smurfs DWJr. drafts with Seattle's draft pick haul from the Gourde trade. Man that franchise is going nowhere.

Wow. If TBL has a bad year in 2026 OR 2027, this could turn out to be a terrible trade for them. But I guess their window is wide open right now and they have to do everything they can to win now.

Did Gourde and Bjorkstrand really just return 2 1sts and 1 2nd round pick?

That is insane.
I interpret it as 1st+2nd for two playoff runs with Bjorkstrand which seems more or less fair. Bjorkstrand is a legit 2nd liner who doesn't hurt you defensively and the picks will be very low. Then 1st+Eyssimont for Gourde which is probably a slight overpay compared to the Granlund trade although Gourde is better suited to play 3C than Granny.

Seattle squeezed every last drop of value out of this deal but this is a full-on rebuilding move executed 9 months after they signed Stephenson and Montour for life. I don't understand anything that franchise has done in its existence.

Both picks are top 10 protected so Seattle can't even hang their hat on "maybe Vasilevskiy gets hit by the team bus and we end up with McKenna or Dupont"

Another offenseman bites the dust. Nemec, Bustson and Buium are on the same trajectory. Everyone is starting to realize that these players don't help you win.

Sure, but then they'd get kicked ahead a year and the same problem could happen.

You don't think Hutson is still a valuable player? Look at his numbers!

Ending up with Tampa's 2028 and 2029 1sts is not a good outcome for Seattle. Unless those are top 5 picks they're not going to be making an impact in the NHL until the mid-2030s if at all. Everyone in Seattle's front office will be gone by then.

Hutson's power play stats don't impress me. He's probably the physically weakest player in the entire league and one of the worst defensively. These types don't drive winning, they just put up empty calorie points and get overpaid for it. Montreal will never be a contender with Hutson on their top pair.

I'd have more imposter syndrome there than joy of "winning a Cup". Midseason backup goalie addition that plays 6ish regular season games for the team and gets a ring if they win the Cup.

Getting those picks would be fantastic. Undoubtedly Tampa is gojng to be a bottom 5 team then.

Feel like any time Pierre tweets about the Sharks, it happens. Not sure if that is different under Grier as opposed to DW (think DW was his personal source), but me thinks something happens here.

Also, may or may not be pertinent, but talked with a buddy who knows the Kunin family here in STL. Sounds like he can't wait to be traded out of SJ. Makes the Giles deal make some more sense I think as he seems to be a for sure goner and someone needs to fill that lineup spot on the 4th line.

I was watching Jake McCabe get lit up by Vegas last night and remembered that guy returned a 1st and 2nd two deadlines ago.

McCabe had an additional year remaining compared to Ferraro but he's a clearly inferior defenseman who was 3 years older at the time of the deal.

We should hold out for a 1st and 2nd for Mario.

Yep, similarly, my wife has family in STL and at an extended family gathering I had to tolerate a Blues fan who couldn't wait to tell me how close they were with the Kunins and how much Luke wants out. Granted, that may have been true last year or the year before and no longer true, but certainly at some point Luke and his family were not shy about spreading this around STL.

This all seems weird. He could've gotten out last July but he signed the below QO contract and took the money.
