I like everything except the Nemec trade. I know none of the individual assets are all that valuable but it still feels like too much to give up for a guy who could still easily be a "not even playable in sheltered third pair minutes" level bust.
I was thinking it could be the 2026 Col 2nd instead. I think it is worth the gamble. I don’t think Thompson is more than a NHL/AHL tweener. Bystedt would be tough to give up but it is worth the chance at what Nemec could become. Jiricek just went for a 1st+2nd+3rd+4th and is not seen as good as Nemec do I don’t think that value is too far off. I actually don’t think NJ does that deal.

If you read the NJ fans on here they make it sound like Nemec is basically untouchable.

I really like the idea of the sharks picking him up since he seems to be one of the few young RHD that has all the tools and is potentially available. Obviously you don’t want to see a big overpayment but it’s slim pickings for good young RHD.

New Jersey fans overrate their prospects more than most.

If Chernyshov continues to develop at this rate and there is not an unfortunate injury in near future, I think he'll go the route of starting at AHL next year, get call up with either Celebrini or Smith and hope he sticks.
I think it's great that he is a right shot player, even though listed LW. I think if he can play either side he could be a swiss army knife option for that group next year. Best case scenario Sharks will have options with Eklund/Chernyshov and Celebrini/Smith. In the long run Chernyshov would fit any of the top 9 lines if he finds his groove at NHL speed.

Possibly but there will be a few others in his position trying to do the same with Halttunen and Musty likely going there next season. Considering the team's needs on defense, I wouldn't be surprised to see one of these guys used as trade bait but I'm hoping they find a way to succeed. Even if Smith becomes a permanent center by the time next season starts, we still have Eklund, Toffoli, Zetterlund, and Kovalenko that are likely top-9 wingers with Graf, the three winger prospects that will turn pro next season, and the possibility of someone like Lund or Muldowney coming in to see what they can do. There's a lot of healthy competition at all different levels. It's a really good spot to be in.
