even one of those D gets would be great. 2 would be a miracle. but Grier can cook...

Bystedt +Thompson + 2025 DAL 1st round pick + 2026 SJS 2nd round pick to NJD for Simon Nemec + 2025 5th round pick
NGL... this feels like way too much for a guy who's struggling to find a place on the NHL squad, inexperienced or not. The fact he was a 2nd overall is a sunk cost and shouldn't factor in and this trade is close to the equivalent of three firsts (albeit late).

The Copp and Millers ones, however, I would be thrilled with, although I do believe waiting to trade Ferraro next TDL would fetch a first.

I like everything except the Nemec trade. I know none of the individual assets are all that valuable but it still feels like too much to give up for a guy who could still easily be a "not even playable in sheltered third pair minutes" level bust.

If this all happened, it would be wild. I just want to say that--and I'm sure others will disagree--but I'm thinking there's a case to be made that Misa spends his D+1 year in the NHL.

I think it's probably better if the rumored "Misa to BU" deal is true. Smith is having his wobbly year in D+2. Misa isn't a Fantilli-style fully grown man nor a crazy outlier like Celly.

Tavares yes, Matthews less so, and Nylander the least.

I agree, but I doubt Tavares wants to come to SJ. He should want to chase a cup somewhere...
Glassthews is probably the worst out of any of them. Nylander and Marner actually work out there from time to time in the playoffs.

Theres alot of smoke (and where theres smoke theres fire) that Misa will be NCAA bound next year. He is the likeliest of the top 4, maybe even first round junior guys to make that move.

Would not hurt in the least for him to go to school for a year.

He could learn how to read, and figure out the team and player names, which could help.

Unlike most of the rest of the league, where players frantically squint to recognize color patterns and the graphics which are like primitive hieroglyphs to clue them in to which animal is their animal. This is why 3rd uni’s tend to just f*** with players worlds. What color dis? That not my animal! Goodrow CONFUZ!

I think there's a chance given he's not a slight undersized player, but also not counting on it as I think the NCAA path would be good for him and would also help space out some of the ELC expirations. Would also give the guy that I think is his future linemate (Smith) another year of NHL development before being tasked with helping bring along a rookie. He should not be back in Junior Hockey next year though no matter what.

No to Miller. Reading from Rangers fans is this guy has no tool box and plays soft

I'm still willing to bet on traits in a Nemec deal. Without Schaefer, I think it becomes a deal that you need to try and make to round out the defense group with a right shot to build with/around that can be a top pairing guy.

He played 20 mins a night as a 19 year old last year in the NHL and put up respectable numbers. He's not exclusively offense and thinks the game well in addition to being a plus plus skater. He's also 6'1 as opposed to 5'11 which should help him as an all around D-Man.

It's not a guarantee, but I like him more than Jiricek due to the skating being top end as opposed to a question mark with Jiricek. Jiricek went for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th plus a Thompson level D prospect. Nemec will cost more due to the draft pedigree being higher and his NHL time being better than Jiricek's, so that is where Bystedt enters in place of the 3rd/4th.

He was very good last year. I don't see how anyone could do well in NYR this year with the dysfunction top to bottom in that organization/locker room. I'll trust Grier on if he wants him or not as he was part of the front office when Miller made his debut and was being developed. He'll know the make up of the player more than most.

That is exactly what he is. Muk looks to play a similar tall-lanky basic style and they already have liljegren for another year so not only is there no need for that bum, if Grier were to trade for him AND sign him to something even close to 6x6 that would not be a good sign.

I agree, a change of scenery into a team/culture that is demanding of effort will help K Miller a lot.
