I did notice Smith taking a bunch of draws lately so, I’m wondering if he gets a whack at center again. Upon further thinking, I’d actually want to try something like:

Eklund - Celebrini - Zetterlund
Kovalenko (when he’s healthy) - Smith - Toffoli
I wouldn't be surprised if Grier gives Goose one last chance to make an impression. He's been more or less a PPG player over the last couple of weeks and his been more noticeable than in the past.

He would be giving up a ton of money if he did that. They will probably do the Shea Weber thing instead where they keep it informal.
Right, I guess I mean that it'll be officially announced that he's done. But I think that would trigger a captaincy change or an acknowledgement of no captain.

Grier seems like he'd have some use for Couture in the front office/player development/that sort of thing to keep him around.

Agreed. I don't think they give it to Macklin right away in this case. Maybe Toffoli for a couple years before Macklin gets it?

I wouldn't mind that, I love Toffoli.

Now that Granlund and Ceci are gone, I'm curious who if anyone will get moved at the deadline. Sturm seems like the most obvious candidate, for a 4th or 5th. Rutta may as well stay put, since he probably doesn't get anything more than a 7th and we need RHD. I would keep Kunin unless someone is giving up a 2nd for him. Doubt anyone wants Vanecek or Georgiev.

So my official prediction is Sturm for a mid-late round pick and everyone else stays put.

dont underestimate a teams desire for Mario. I think he could get a decent return 2nd or 2 3rds.

I'll believe teams want Mario when I see it, and not a second sooner.

Someone mentioned Walman as well, who is definitely falling back to earth somewhat. If someone offers a 1st at this deadline for him, I'd seriously consider it even though he's still a solid player and obviously our best D.

If somebody offered a 1st for Walman, I would drive him to the airport myself.
