This was far and away the most entertaining Sharks game in quite a while. It helped a lot that Detroit's defense was positively sharktastic.

I had the same thought as I was watching today. Even in the losses, the games are fun, close and the players are easy to cheer for.

It’s in stark contrast to last year’s team when I kept hoping Mike Hoffman and his irritating face would fall into a sudden ice hole.

It just shows how impressive Grier was in the tank last season. There was no stopping him getting the best Celebrini odds.

I didn't really enjoy the "better effort/no results" game Wild game. Reminded me too much of this. And I think we're all agreed about the Utah game.

Celebrini playing well always improves my feelings about any game though.

Didn't even need Threegiev last year

I think Eklund's jump this year has been almost as important as Celebrini's emergence. There are no guarantees even with highly drafted prospects, so its nice to see that Eklund looks like a solid hit right now. Not only has he solidified himself as a top 6 forward and jumped to a 60+ point pace from 45 last year, he has gone from -45 to +4 this year. If he can be a consistent 60-70 point defensively responsible winger, that would be great value from his draft slot. We should probably think about locking him up long term soon.

It's interesting because I feel like his ceiling offensively probably needs to be discussed in relation to who he's playing with, because I feel pretty good right now projecting Eklund to being a PPG player if he's on Celebrini's wing and getting PP1 time in the future as part of a more lethal attack with a more mature Celebrini.

He really does feel sort of like the ideal winger for Celebrini long term because he has the skill and the brain and the tenacity, plus the defensive chops, as you said, so that this could be a line matched up confidently against anyone in any situation.

Yeah if they find an equally good third guy, that’s a future top line that can score and shut down other top lines.
