Makes you think how much of what Inge Hammarström said in terms of leaving Flyers due to philosophical difference is still embedded...

Know he is retired now and seemingly got very few high picks with either Canucks or Flyers over the last 15 years of his scouting career...

But noteworthy that 2 of the last 3 picks from his area over career were Elias Pettersson and Gustav Forsling!
Over the years the Flyers have consistently favored NA draft prospects over Euros/Russians compared to other franchises. Even when great ones fell into their laps they went for grit over skill. That they jumped on Michkov stunned me at the time. Perhaps this will open the door to a different philosophy on drafting but I doubt it.

The most recent draft says otherwise.

Brian Zanetti scored the OT winner in playoff game 2 for his 8th placed SCL Tigers vs 1st placed Lausanne HC. Series now tied 1-1.

Not sure if the Flyers have any plans of signing him at all but in my humble view he's one of the best defensemen in the NL. He's underrated because he doesn't get PP-time and is playing for a defensive minded team but he's actually been excellent and has played heavy minutes all season. Don't know about his NHL upside but he does have decent size while being a very good skater. Flyers have to sign by the summer if they wanna keep his rights.

I did. My #1 D. Did Hockey Canada see though?

Wonder what Calgary does with him next year. He's not going to get another year out of playing in the OHL.

lol just remembered Ottawa took Yakemchuk over everyone.
It'll be interesting to see what a lot of these CHL guys do since they can go the college route now. I think he makes that Calgary team on opening night though.

Jett is pointless in 7 of his last 10 games.

I'd be curious to know if any other orgs have seen lack luster stats from their "top" prospects this season.

Jett is only scoring 9% better per game than last year and if you factor in Guelph scores more than they did last year, his production is basically flat.

Bonk is scoring much less than last year.

Gill is scoring less than last year.

Powell is under PPG in the OHL as a D+2.

Pautov’s scoring dipped.

Barkey is scoring at the same rate.

Sotheran dipped.

Mann is scoring less somehow.

Kaplan.

They aren't even getting the natural older player scores more improvements.

I have always wondered if there is correlation between drafting guys who are 185-200lbs at 17-18 years old and a lack of improvement relative to peers simply due to less room to grow physically.

Jett destroying the combine so much in a funny way made me worry more about his upside...

Being a "man" at 17 years old in sport is nice at the time, but often means others catch up because 95% of guys will end up getting that physical maturity between age 19-22 anyway.
