I think fewest OT losses should be the first tie breaker.
I think being the Detroit Red Wings should be the only tie breaker.

We were basically shut out in that game. At home. Those two defensive mistakes sucked but not scoring was the main issue. Let's hope it doesn't matter.Losing 2-1 against Washington because of a lazy clear by Compher and a bad pass by Seider was a backbreaker. We might still make it... but holy shit that game was massive and we blew it.
ottawa fan in mainboards dissappointed in DRW BC they havent clinched yet
Anyone know when was the last time the Wings and Rangers met in the playoffs? Must have been ages ago
That would be akin to giving up, a fireable offense in the coaching world.
If the only way you can make the playoffs is a regulation win against the team your playing against, then you do everything in your power to win in regulation. Which means if you're tied near the end of regulation you are pulling your goalie.
Winning in OT means the same as losing in regulation, you HAVE to pull your goalie in that situation or you shouldn't be making those types of decisions.
You don't have to shoot a buzzer beater 3 if you're down 3, you can shoot a two and hope for an and 1!Wasn't saying they shouldn't it was more that they are saying they have to like it is a rule or something.
Wings fans should send a thank you card to Philly for pulling the goalie tonightWasn't saying they shouldn't it was more that they are saying they have to like it is a rule or something.

This is so wrong.
Washington has scored the least goals in the eastern conference, no team has fewer goals and 5th least in the league. In addition they are -37.
This is bad, very bad for the league.
Has it ever happened that a team with the least goals have made playoffs?
There are some examples when it was 6 or 12 teams in the league. But now it is 16 teams in the conference and 8 teams make it and 8 team don't. Their record with -37 and the least goals in the entire conference is something.this is the first time in a while but it's happened tons of times before, there's even been times where both Conferences had their team with the least goals scored make the Playoffs, and there's been times where that has happened multiple years in a row
the most recent couple:
the Panthers tied for the least goals in the East in 2011-12 and not only made the Playoffs but won their division
Boston had the least goals in the East in 2009-10 and made the Playoffs
you have to go back to the 90s to find more but there's been other semi recent teams that were close to the least too including a straight up Cup winner in the Kings having the 3rd least goals in the West in 2013-14

This is what happens when you have to rely on other teams to control your destiny. This is so wrong.

Technically all teams do.Tg

Not doing the entire thing but I would assume with the Isles and Caps both having more RWs (3 point games) it's safe to say, no.Would we have made it in with the 3-2-1 system?
