I stopped being good at math once letters entered the equation…(pun intended).

Actually I was exactly the same. Enjoyed math until algebra hit and that cut my interest pretty quick. Although I didn't mind when I could apply it, as in physics. But the abstract equations stuff, definitely not for me.
