HE multiple steps of Jeannot and Sheary combined.

I wouldn't be opposed it, but would want an extension in place.

JBB doesnt want to sign guys with skill and would rather have Sheary,Chaffee, and whoever else off the waiver wire down there.
Your last statement makes one wonder just what you are thinking?

If he did not like skill players, why would he sign a younger and all around more effective Guentzel rather than an aging power play specialist in Stamkos, then give Hedman a nice extension?

It is as if the blind undying loyalty to Stamkos is preventing people from seeing and understanding that the same core failed to make it out of the first round the previous two postseasons and the roster was in need of some serious changes in an effort to make it to the second round and beyond.

Like it or not, professional sports are a business, and the goal of that business is winning Championships. The goal is NOT keeping aging fan favorites just for the sake of keeping those fans happy. New players mean new fans, which in turn creates revenue and interest. Odds are, most of the folks complaining about Stamkos leaving will not stop following the team, and the majority of those who do will be back before the season is over, especially if the Lightning start winning.

That's how bad off we are...smdh. this team is stuck in neutral. Thanks JBB. The value is signing stammer cheap was there. Let's be honest...this window is shut. We could've extended it 2 years. Now? We'll be lucky to make the playoffs
We’re a playoff team for sure but i think we need more improvements to be a cup contender definitely need another top 6 forward

You think Sheary , Chaffee, and Jeannot(finally gone) are going to win you championships in the bottom 6?

Tatar just signed 1 year for 1.8 million still better than Sheary, Chaffee, and would help our middle 6 forwards offensively and defensely. Either JBB has his ace up his sleeve or he is just refusing to sign guys that address the lack of skill in the middle 6 .

Given that the top six forwards, top 4 defensemen, and top goaltender have, as a group, not performed up to expectations during the last two post seasons, we will never know.
Folks can only assume one way or the other, which is something a few folks posting here do VERY well.

Tatar is a ghost in the playoffs, glad we didn't get him tbh.
But it's true that basically anything is an upgrade over Sheary

Sheary wasn't even good enough to dress. Tatar is night and day better than Sheary and Chaffee in our bottom 9 fowards. Tatar for 1.8 million with one year compared to sheary at 2 million for 2 more years is a waste of cap for Sheary.

67 points in 69 (nice) games.
38 goals. 29 assists.

Pittsburgh had plenty of first round exits post those 2 cups, but Jake has proven to show up in the post season. 9 points in 11 games for Carolina
23 goals are from 8 years ago. Lololol.

But 38 goals!

Edit: first round exits? He'll fit right in here

Point and Kucherovs are coming up to be 4-5 years ago...

It's all relative.

Guentzel had more points than Kuch and Point in the playoffs this year. Your weird logic makes no sense. He still produced. Played for bad Pittsburgh teams and then as soon as he's back in playoffs drops good numbers

Guentzel is a playoff beast usually Stamkos wasn’t until this year

Gotta wonder if the plan is to roll with Sheary and hope he bounces back, and, if not, try to unload him and pick up a replacement at the trade deadline. But that still means, given our current roster, we'd have to play him or Paul on the 2nd line. Oof.

Tampa, FL.
Sign Tyler Johnson at this point anything is better
Why not? He's still capable enough if healthy. On a rough Chicago team last year he still was close to 20 goals and had over 30 points. For 1-1.5 aav, I'd consider him for the 3rd line for a.year or two max. If they trade Sheary and keep Moser's bridge in the 2.5 range, they could probably get Roslovic/Sprong and Johnson. Cooper and his staff could then figure out the best way to deploy them.
Edit: nm, saw they signed Atkinson right after I sent this lol.

After hopefully moving Sheary, they could still sign Roslovic for ~3 aav and roll with:
Guentzel-Point-Kuch
Hagel-Cirelli-Roslovic
Atkinson-Paul-Ace
Girgensons-Glendening-Chaffee
Goncalves

Hedman-Raddysh
McD-Cernak
Moser-Perbix or Lilleberg-Moser

I don't think we should look back at our cup winning teams and compare that depth, it was an exception. All of the great teams end up in this cap hell. Hawks, Pens, we. Heck even Avs and the Panthers went through it, even if they've not reached the same success.

We had a 2-3 year window when we had a team some fans might never experience, with a mix of great players on affordable contracts and cheap quality depth, and we surely did the most of it, with two cups and a final.

Just look around the league and point on the teams with amazing depth and top players for their line tiers?

We are better off than most thought, this team is good enough to compete against the rest, we may not be the favourites, but we can still contend.

I like the Atkinson signing but we're now looking at the smallest forward group in the league, if it wasn't already. 8+ guys under 6 feet at this rate. Regardless of where you stand on the toughness debate, you can't go deep with a tiny forward group, it doesn't work.

It might be possible if you had a star player (like a Draisaitl) or some top 6 guys with size who can excel at the heavy game, but we don't have that either. There are plenty of miles on TB's skilled players already, and it won't last with the way cup contenders build their teams, especially on D.

It seems unlike BriseBois so I'd like to think he has plan for that too, but we're running out of roster space. You can buzz around all you want in the regular season, but this team is not built to go anywhere after that.

I say all this as someone who really likes our free agents signings so far, but this has become a glaring hole on the team.
