Well.

What are our options now? We want another top 6 winger. Realistically… who could we get?

Why the f*** did we bail on a 40 goal scorer over a mil or so cap hit per year lmao. Not to mention the other stuff he brought to the table.

Anyway. What’s next? We rolling with this lineup? There’s too much cap space to make me believe this is it.

There's no way he was asking for 4m. Sorry there was no hard reporting on that.

He is - right now - a 5.5ish player in a dream situation beside the best playmaker in the league. And he can go from 5.5 to not an NHLer really quick at his age - not everyone ages like Pavelski.

The Lightning currently have 17 players under contract with 7.5 million of cap space left. Let’s say Moser costs 3 million. That leaves 4.5MM. Ideally the roster will have 22 players. So not much more than a million per player left.

There is no top 6 forward coming to pair with Cirelli and Hagel. JBBs best bet is probably to find near league minimum deals to fill out the roster. Lilliberg is a no brainer and need a few kids to step up I guess. Maybe bring Motte back. Then accrue cap space and hopefully bring in another Duclair type for the stretch run

Tampa, FL.
If they buy Sheary out, they save 1.4167 this year. The cap hit with a rising cap isn't a large issue, but if he could be traded, all the better. Clearing his full 2 million gives them 9.5, then after Moser at ~2.5, Lilleberg at 870k, Motte at 900k and perhaps Goncalves at 775k, theyd have around ~4.5 left for 2 players. You spend a million on somebody and then around 3.5 on an actual middle 6 F who can play 2nd or 3rd line.

Who on the roster has a shot at maturing into something?

Essymont is a scrappy, gritty bottom 6 and PK. Glendenon? Chaffee? Either be the next Point?

Hedman will be captain without question. We're likely a much better team next year as well.
I don't think it's without question. The Lightning are very keen on McD's leadership, and he was captain for the NYR.

There are plenty of books about leadership and all that, so if the Lightning take a prescriptive approach, McD (or whoever) may actually check more of the boxes.

The path of least resistance would be Hedman as captain, though.

Kuch would be objectively hilarious as captain. There are a lot of superficial aspects that the team expects you to do as captain. Kuch would hate it.

Do the Lightning have a vocal leader? That seemed to be an issue last season.

Couple things …

Duclair is signing with the Islanders

No way Moser would accept $2.5M AAV. He a top-4 dman. He could cost upwards of $4M per

Conor Geekie probably has a better shot at making the team than Gaultier, maybe better than Gage too

We have $7.5M left. Need Moser to sign. We're prob looking at around $4-4.5M remaining for the rest of the roster.

Are we really filling out the rest of the roster with $1M players?
