Sounds like Chicago Wolves will retain his AHL rights.

Back to the UFA list for Kemp who was under contract with Ontario last season.

Kinkaid would 100% have to be assigned to Chicago since he has a binding valid contract with them. I am a bit curious about all of these PTO's being signed by players under contract to Chicago and especially the teams that are signing them. One has to wonder if the "motivation" isn't to improve their team but to get some sort of "payback" for some perceived transgressions against them by the Wolves during their partnerships. It's almost as if there are teams in the NHL with the we'll show you not to upset our apple cart attitude or agenda. Especially in the case of Kinkaid...NJ has a quite capable young goaltender in Scmid who played in, for the most part, equal parts NHL and AHL games last season. And played well enough to play in 9 playoff games. Why would you sign a 34 year old goaltender when you have Schmid, Daws AND just signed Kallgren? I can't believe they think that Kinkaid is going to play in the NHL or else it would be a 1 way deal.

Nico Daws had hip surgery after the end of the season and is expected to miss the first few months. The last I heard is he may not be available until after Christmas. The Devils are looking for additional depth in goal. With Daws injured the only depth on a NHL contract is Kallgren and rookie Tyler Brennen who they probably want in the ECHL seeing a lot of game action.

If either Schmid or Vanecek get hurt in NJ, the Devils have either Kinkaid or Kallgren available for call ups.

Understood...He's not an unknown player to them so why now? He's not making the team out of camp and he can't be assigned to Utica. Didn't seem to be a lot "Interest" in him before now as a free agent and unless NJ mgmt are complete idiots Daws' surgery wasn't a surprise so again...why now? The actual reason might be legitimate but based on all of that the appearances are suspect.

Hard to say but probably just a late fall back position based on other things. It could be the recovery timeline for Daws isn't looking good or plans to upgrade the goaltending position in NJ didn't materialize. There was a lot of talk about the Devils trading for Hellebuyck which would have pushed Schmid down the depth chart. If Fitzgerald has given up on the idea of trading for a goalie and staying with Vanecek and Schmid it's time to add another depth goalie from what is still available on the free agent market.

Who knows but if the idea was to trade for Hellebuyck and pair him with Vancek this year A- Someone would most likely have gone back the other way and then it becomes who? Not Daws as I'm sure his injury would've prevented him from being moved...Schmid? Hell of a message to send to him after splitting games between Utica and NJ and playing well including 9 Playoff games. Vanecek going the other way? Another team giving up on him after a short time? No matter who went back it would have had to be a semi established guy...WPG doesn't really have anyone in the minors ready to step into the #1 role right now.

Was under contract with Cleveland

I think vinnie gets pushed out of the crease in adirondack and the net is a war between That rookie and issac because kinkaid played alot of the year in prov last year. So i think the net battle in adirondack is gonna be fun to watch and vinnies gonna have to out play . Two on the cusp of being ahl backup guys. to win a spot in training camp. has for Scmid i think he has the most controll of the back up has long has he plays well in camp. i think kinkaid was just a stop gap incase daws doesnt catch up too speed . when he comes back.

Theres also a wildcard with utica signing Marty's son.
So my guess is this
1. V-TEK
2. scmid
3. daws
4. Isaac
5 the rookie
6 kinkaid jumps to third right now because daws is hurt .

Off the topic of goalies and such.
Xavier and alot of other core players on year 2 of two year deals may jam up the roster even more.
Depending on how Nemec and people play during The devils camp.
If devil's brass determines that Nemec and company still need a little more dev the first Line d min's are automatically half ate by nemec.
Adirondack wise,
Pete made some crazy good signing on the back end and signed a Nasty two way forward in walker.
I think Weller should actually Get the C in adirondack.
My line i wanna see is Weller Grasso Walker
Turrcotte Josfek Smith.
Training camp is gonna be fun and watch traverse stream's if your not doing anything later.
Fantilli looks beast and Newfoundland's Number one didnt look to bad before they stopped the game last night.

Was under contract with San Jose Barracuda

Rumored signing for Lehigh Valley

Potential additon for San Jose

While Bailey is listed as a TR (Try-out) on the training camp roster, Kaspick has the FA (Free Agent) mention just like the other AHL contract acquisitions (Cole Cassels, Beck Warm, Roman Kinal etc.)

Was under contract with Hershey :

Thiesen returns to Tucson where he recorded 15 points (7G-8A) in 31 games last season. Thiesen received an invitation to Arizona's main camp a few days ago.

Talking about invitations, the following AHL UFAs have received NHL camp invitations :
- Henrik Tikkanen (Bridgeport) invited to New York Islanders' rookie camp.
- Brendan Perlini (Chicago) invited to Carolina's camp.
- Tarun Fizer (Colorado) invited to Ottawa's rookie camp.
- Tanner Kaspick* (Iowa) invited to San Jose Sharks' camp.

*Potentially a AHL contract, see post above
