Haven't been this underwhelmed since Korshkov.
Yeah, that’s about right. Minten’s grown on me as well, but yeah…I guess this is Treliving letting Wes Clark play out the plan already in place?

Have you seen this kid play I have watched minten cowan is a lot better

I meant in terms of reaching for a player that could have been available later.

I think the realism that a trade down was possible have a lot of people disappointed they didn't get another pick and grab Cowan later.

That being said maybe the trade down option wasn't there at all. Trev could have been checking in to see if there was a deal there but maybe there wasn't.

This is the Leaf's MO they always seem to go off the board and think they are the smartest team in the room. If they traded down they probably could have still got him and added another pick. We can hope he still has some growth in his future. Grow 2" and pack on 10 -20 lbs. This was not a Tree pick, I wonder who ultimately made this pick?
So close to Perrault but not meant to be.
Gotta be Wes Clark.

On that point but maybe there was no trade down available

100% for sure.

So that being said I did like Dubas' drafts for the most part so far, so I'm optimistic this kid might be a player for us.

Besides, we get to cheer for a local OHL kid to make it. Could be some fun.

Where does he project on London's roster next year?

From the 5 minutes of YouTube research, he looks like a buzzy pepper pot forward who could be a Yanni Gourde, if he's got a competitive streak. Handles the puck well and makes crisp plays in traffic (in junior). And if he doesn't have a personality, he'll be an Alex Kerfoot. That probably sounds more unflattering than I meant it to. But Kerfoot does have a nice skills package (that doesn't result in anything special).

His best hockey was during the playoffs. I thought we needed guys like that? Or maybe I'm wrong and we should just go for regular season points.
Nothing against this kid at all as I don't know anything about him, but to be fair, Marner also had monster playoff numbers in the OHL.

If you’re looking for a player who could be a steal of the 2023 NHL Draft, look no further than Easton Cowan of the London Knights. Despite being undersized, he has a complete hockey toolkit that should allow him to excel at the sport for years once he breaks onto the scene.

On the ice, Cowan plays a nonstop two-way game that makes him one of the most notable players every shift. He has a visceral understanding of the sport that allows him to either find the right place to set up his teammates to score or to shut down his opponent’s opportunities. He also isn’t afraid of playing a tough game despite his size, as he will battle in the corners to dig out a puck.

Throughout the Knights’ run to the 2023 OHL Western Conference Final, Cowen flashed his playmaking abilities by posting nine goals and 21 points in 20 games played. This playoff was a bit of a coming-out party for him, as he showcased that he could produce points when his team needed it most as well as shut down opponents.

"Cowan is a high-energy playmaker who plays with significant grit; with added polish and muscle, he projects as an intense depth creator in the NHL. Cowan is an excellent two-way forward that has elite vision, passing and hockey IQ. He has a great motor that allows him to be engaged in every play throughout his shifts".
