Toronto acquired this pick on February 28, 2023, sending Rasmus Sandin to Washington in exchange for Erik Gustafsson and this pick. Washington.
(Washington previously acquired this pick as the result of a trade on February 23, 2023, that sent Garnet Hathaway and Andrei Svetlakov to Boston in exchange for Craig Smith, a third-round pick in 2024, a second-round pick in 2025 and this pick.)

This is the third time the Leafs have selected 28th overall - selecting RW Daniel Marois in the 2nd rd in 1987 and LW Jeff Jackson in the 2nd rd in 1983.

At his size you want him to be competitive and unafraid to go into the dirty areas .. but still. Seems like he'll transition more as a winger at the next level.

That being said I am a fan of late risers at the draft table .. so we'll see.

After Stenberg, Dragecevic seemed like a good idea.

I think this kid would have been there at the 35-39 range.

Had him ranked 49th.

I like him. But I'd rather we had swung for the fences on Gulyayev or Brindley.

Watched a lot of London Knights hockey, he's a hard working forward who's a great skater for his size. Plays with a competitive edge. Needs to refine his hands.

This is the Leaf's MO they always seem to go off the board and think they are the smartest team in the room. If they traded down they probably could have still got him and added another pick. We can hope he still has some growth in his future. Grow 2" and pack on 10 -20 lbs. This was not a Tree pick, I wonder who ultimately made this pick?
So close to Perrault but not meant to be.
