I ask because at first glance Engstrom looked like an overager. But actually his birthdate is close to the september cutoff, so he was drafted in the first draft he was eligible for.I was too lazy to do specifics.

I don’t mind overagers, but only in later rounds. I just don’t like the “we pick them because they are older and fit our window” thing. Mittlestadt is an ok pick for where he was drafted.
Sure, maybe some can surprise and have an impact but most times they don’t. There’s a reason they were passed over in older drafts.
Then again, the same could be said about first year eligible players, not many end up making the show in later rounds.
I just want them to pick the player who they think will be the best in 3-5 years, not follow a philosophy because it fits their narrative.

Probably already news, but Jackson LaCombe and Brock Faber are gone. Mittlestadt should be a top 2 dman Minnesota, so a higher production should be likely
