I didn't think he came off the bag. As he popped up his left foot looked like it stayed in contact.

They really need to relax the rules a little bit. Guys shouldn't be punished if they come like an inch off the bag on a slide recovery. It's not the same thing as overshooting and carrying off the bag or absent-mindedly taking your hand off.

He was for sure off the bag. The foot that made contact first came off and he went airborne as he popped up. The other foot made contact shortly thereafter. Assuming the tag was still on(I was looking at his feet)

I have no issues with the rules. They have to be black and white, otherwise where's the line? I was only off for a third of a second, that should be fine because a quarter of a second was fine yesterday. I was only off the bag by 3 inches, that should be fine because 2 inches was fine yesterday, etc, etc. It would keep getting stretched or argued. The bag is safe. Anything else isn't. Easy.

the minute they expanded replay you knew this would be the result. im sure when they put robo umps in we will miss the expanded strike zone at times

He was almost to 2nd base before Gausman threw the pitch. What happens if he gets to 2nd before the pitch is thrown and it gets fouled off. Does he get to keep 2nd base since he was there before the pitch?

i swear the guys that are the most stoked to be back in Toronto, are the opposing clubs commentator teams. they all just gush about being back

and absolutely no sympathy for the teams missing guys

I don't really think this is a replay issue unless you're suggesting that umps are quicker on the trigger to call guys out now because they're counting on replay to bail them out when they're wrong.

He led on the slide with his right foot and it popped off as he came up out of the slide, but it looked like the inside of his left toe contacted the bag as he popped up and stayed there.

I just really dislike that tags have turned into a game of "gotcha!" waiting to see if the runner comes a fraction of an inch off the base for a fraction of a second during the pop-up.

Maybe they need to revise the rule so that during slides into a base to complete plays you become safe the moment you touch the bag and remain safe as long as some part of you remains either in contact with the bag or positioned over top of it within the vertical alignment of the base. Kind of like the revised NHL offside rule now just requires a player to have part of their body within the vertical plane of the blueline even if they are not physically in contact with the line or neutral zone ice. This would allow guys to do pop up slides onto the bag and not be tagged out if they lose contact as they rise, but will still be out if they go past the bag after making contact or fail to retain contact while sliding off to the side.

Buck doesn't strike me as a particularly egotistical person but man he has to be loving this series. An entire fandom basically pouring out their hearts for you.

I would find it hard to keep my composure during that. Some would say he's a real pro's pro.

But is he a Gud pro?
