Cant we just call this a win? Its 5-1 in the 8th....Orioles are eliminated. Two more days of rain.
The game should have been paused before this inning started. Just dumb. What a crock of sh*t.
"We know it's pouring, keep playing"
"Wait, the Jays have the bases loaded? Bring on the tarps"
The league just embarrassed itself again.
Absolutely. Dumb. Injury risk is so high. The game should have been paused before this inning started. Just dumb.
Just called nowAny official call on this game yet? Been more than 30 minutes...
Just called now
That's correct the magic number is 1 and Seattle has a double header tomorrowGood on a lot fronts.
IIRC either one more Jays win in the remaining two games or one Seattle loss and Jays clinch home field in the wild card series?
It's close!

Switching over to the Mariners Detroit game, Mariners announcers. "Jays versus Mariners. Interesting series. Jays a great hitting team and Mariners great pitching. Pitching usually wins".
They do have good pitching but kinda' forgetting about Misters Manoah and Gausman with a side order of Stripling, and a hungry Berrios lurking for starters.
It is the home team's call at 30 minutes. They can choose to end the game or to try to wait it out.So this game better be officially called a win after 30 minutes right? There not going to try to make them play at midnight or some bs if the rain lightens up a bit.
Once the game is going, it usually takes an obvious sign that the rain is a threat to the players to stop the game. With the pristine shape that MLB ballparks are usually in, it isn't that dangerous to play in the rain. That being said, the second the umpire believes that the pitcher has lost the ability to properly grip the ball due to rain, that is one of the warning signs. If a ball slips and it is raining, the ump will make a judgement call whether to stop immediately or basically go pitch by pitch. When he missed for ball four, the umpire clearly decided that it was too difficult to properly grip a ball. I would much rather the ump call a walk and stop the game and keep the integrity of the at-bat than him use "game management".What a crock of sh*t.
