Rosen cuz he will play for the Sabres.

Respect to RyJo but he will suit up for someone else. He woulda been my 8 but he is PUNISHED TWO SPOTS for his impudence.

I'm gonna keep adding Rousek. He will have a 20 goal season in the NHL if he gets a chance with a team. Sadly it probably won't be with us.

Definitely has the upside. I have Johnson over him still because of floor, though. At this point, Johnson’s far enough along in his development that you can feel pretty confident he’ll be a player. Rosen’s projection is a lot less certain.

This.

Pretty talented and speedy kid. You think it's just too crowded?

If Johnson had signed his ELC he'd have been picked at least 2 slots ago. His signing status shouldn't affect these polls.

Ehhhh, I disagree about the "at least 2 slots ago" thing. Johnson has a stupid-high floor (like, I can't see him being worse than a #7 NHL Dman)........but not a super high ceiling (I can't see him being a legit 1st pair guy).

I had him in my 8th spot in my personal rankings. There's just no way I could put him above the "Big 4", Levi or either of 2022's other 1st rounders.

I have a feeling that Rosen is going to be a lot higher next year after playing in Rochester in 22-23.

Of COURSE Rosen is going to be higher. Power, Quinn and Peterka should all graduate off this list. :P

Seriously though -- it wouldn't shock me in the least. I do not blame people for being gunshy on him right now though.

Also wouldn't surprise me if he drops as people get into the shiny-new-toy syndrome of whoever they select next year as well as how so often first-year AHL players don't give the warm and fuzzy to people as they grow their pro game. We see it all the time as draftees and junior players dominate prospect ranking lists over their AHL brethren, even those done by paid professionals.

Portillo is easily a top ten prospect. I think the impending doom and gloomers are letting him slide
There are three guys on the list I wont rank. Two of which will be going UFA after their college season and I do not consider in the Sabres plans, and one who is on his second pro contract and despite the rules about goalies, I can't tick that radio button.

I just think that he has slipped in these rankings because of a lack of ice time last year. I do not expect that to happen in Rochester. And while it is a high bar, I won't be shocked if he has an AHL season similar to what Holtz had in Utica last year.

And if he has a close to a PPG AHL season, I expect that he has Quinn/JJP level hype heading into 23-24.

But, we shall see...

The poll should be closed already! I had Johnson here and then Rosen was next.
Yeah my bad, it closed an hour ago.

Can't argue that, but will say it feels fitting to me they ended in a tie, they feel close. Maybe I'm just sipping the "potentially unsigned UFA" cool aid as some have suggested. Onto the next poll!

Can we just call this a tie & move onto #11?

I don't really see much point in a runoff here.

Edit - the consistency in the amount of votes is impressive. Very nearly the exact same number of people voting in every poll.

:dunno: The rules I made up however many years ago when I took over these polls say I do tie-breakers in the top 10 and don't after that. We're still in the top 10, so I adhere to my arbitrary rule.

That's fair - but between them they account for 84% of the vote. Whoever doesn't win #9 will surely win #10 in a landslide. And it's for #9/10 not #1/2...

That should be the case, but after last night, I feel people will vote for Kozak next.
That would be dumb. But recency bias is always a thing which irritates me.

And I voted to add Kozak before any games yesterday.
