Posting from my phone, so I’ll have to update this post with all the usual info when I get home this evening. But UPL took the #8 spot by a hair over Rosen and Johnson, and Lindgren ran away with the add vote.

Until I get a chance to update this, refer back to the last poll if you need to see which prospects are eligible to be added.

Edit/the usual info:

RESULTS SO FAR:
  1. Owen Power, D (--): 86/103 votes (83.5%). Runner up: Jack Quinn (11 votes).
  2. Jack Quinn, F (+2): 65/78 votes (83.3%). Runner up: Devon Levi (4 votes).
  3. J.J. Peterka, F (--): 40/91 votes (43.8%). Runner up: Matthew Savoie (35 votes).
  4. Matthew Savoie, F (NR): 59/96 votes (61.5%). Runner up: Devon Levi (27 votes).
  5. Devon Levi, G (+4): 79/96 votes (82.3%). Runner up: Jiri Kulich (11 votes).
  6. Jiri Kulich, F (NR): 54/96 votes (56.3%). Runner up: Noah Ostlund (29 votes).
  7. Noah Ostlund, F (NR): 77/98 votes (78.6%). Runner up: Ryan Johnson (8 votes).
  8. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, G (+3): 30/97 votes (30.9%). Runners up: Ryan Johnson, Isak Rosen (28 votes each).
RULES: Each poll will remain open for 2 days. In the case of a tie within the top 10, I'll create a 1-day runoff poll to decide the winner. Ties outside of the top 10 will be left as ties. For each additional poll, I will add the most commented next to add prospect.

ELIGIBILITY: All players whose rights are held by the Buffalo Sabres and who are eligible to win the Calder Trophy for the 2022-23 season are eligible inclusion. That means a prospect is eligible if--
  • He is under age 26 (as of September 15, 2022);
  • He has played no more than 25 games in any single preceding season; and
  • He has not played 6 or more games in each of any two or more preceding seasons.
NEXT TO ADD: Comment the player you want to see added to the next poll. The following players are eligible:
  • Forwards: Tyson Kozak, Filip Cederqvist, Linus Sjodin, Lukas Rousek, Matej Pekar, Linus Weissbach, Aaron Huglen, Matteo Costantini, Gustav Karlsson, Jake Richard, Joel Berndtsson, Stiven Sardaryan, Viljami Marjala, William von Barnekow, Jakub Konecny, Brett Murray, Vasili Glotov
  • Defensemen: Oskari Laaksonen, Vsemolod Komarov, Albert Lyckasen, Philip Nyberg
  • Goalies: Topias Leinonen

Rosen again. Add Huglen.

Just wondering why Marjala? The kid went from being a possible OA on Quebec to stepping down to play J20 in Finland. There are better options.
Because from what I've seen of him he seems like he's patient with the puck and has a good overall vision of what's happening around him in the offensive zone. I mean at this point the remaining prospects to choose from all I have to go by are highlight videos, scouting reports and stats. I was also thinking Kozak, Huglen or Cederqvist, but Marjala was the youngest of them and has started out the season strong this year.

Why Huglen?

Funny, but of the four you list, I'd put Marjala behind all of them, regardless of being the youngest.

As for Huglen, watching the Gophers and he connects plays for his linemates regardless of who they are and is versatile enough to play on the wing or in the middle. His game improved considerably after the return from the mid-year break. He plays a responsible game as well being diligent in his own zone.

Fair enough. Opinions can vary and I'm entitled to my own, but appreciate your input.

Not sure how we will be able to watch him in the J20, but his games in the Q I watched last year, I was left wanting more. *shrug*

Edit - I hope you are right and he turns out as a good pro for them down the road.

I still have Portillo ahead of Rosen and Johnson right now. And I like Rosen and Johnson. I'm not factoring contract status/FA into this. Guess I'm in the small minority here. Add Rousek

Rosen is getting hilariously underrated at this point. People need to let go of preconceived notions based on not understanding his situation last year…or some bias because they didn’t take a goalie or whatever it was. He’s so much more talented than anyone on this list it’s legitimately insane hes losing again.

Definitely has the upside. I have Johnson over him still because of floor, though. At this point, Johnson’s far enough along in his development that you can feel pretty confident he’ll be a player. Rosen’s projection is a lot less certain.

This is where I was at when voting also. Johnson seems like he's at the least a bottom pairing guy who maybe maxes out as a 2nd pair defender. Just seems reliable, though not really elite. Rosen just felt like more of a gamble. He has a ton of potential, and we saw flashes of that at the U20 but he still didn't do enough there to overtake Johnson for me.

Oh, I think most here full well recognize that Rosen's ceiling is easily the highest of anyone on this poll. And I'm not sure it's that close.

But it's a LARGE projection to believe that he hits that high ceiling............which is why I'm taking Johnson here. Johnson is GOING to be an NHLer with a long, long career. Rosen's mostly projection right now.

In my personal rankings, I had 8/9/10 as Johnson/Rosen/UPL.

Portillo is easily a top ten prospect. I think the impending doom and gloomers are letting him slide
