Went with Johnson, he's almost certain to be an NHL'er and the others still have the uncertainty of being teenagers. But I doubt he'll be the best of the names on the list.

I took Kulich as I think he has a higher floor than Ostlund. Now saying that, if Ostlund pans out he'll be more valuable it's just whether he can approach his ceiling
That was my thinking on Kulich also. Seems like he has a higher probability of at least being a solid 3rd/4th line player in the NHL. Ostlund has sky high potential but feels more boom or bust.

Well at this point all three of them are Sabres property:

Johnson must sign next summer at which point he will be 22 yo.

Portillo must sign by summer 2024 at which point he will be 23 yo.

Levi must sign by by summer 2025 at which point he will be 22 yo.

These are the facts. Maybe you are right with what you would bet on but it is still speculation.
I thought I saw that Portillo would be a UFA next summer along with Johnson. Maybe his NCAA eligibility years? Can't remember exactly but someone will correct me.

I don't have a lot of faith in Portillo or Johnson signing with us but I'll be happy if we can pull one of them.

Portillo still has another year of college eligibility but if he chooses to leave school he can become a UFA after this year.

His options are

1. Sign here whenever

2. Become a UFA next summer

3. Go back for another year and we retain his rights through that year…and he can become a UFA next summer.

I'm going with the only guy on the list who, barring injury or total collapse in play, will certainly see time with the Sabres in 22/23.

The add? I might as well pull names from a hat at this point.

I went with Ostlund because I don’t pretend to be smarter than the Sabres scouts who just drafted him over Kulich. But they’re probably close.

They had them really close together prior to the draft if we were to believe beyond blue and gold. Kulich had a better prospect camp and was a stud in the WJC. It wouldn’t surprise me if the Sabres have Kulich in front too.

Kulich was actually part of my top 6, or he was a clear #6.

For me 7-10 is tricky, not the 4 players but the order of those 4 players.

I was technically correct in my OP.

Portillo could walk next summer but AS IT STANDS is Sabres property until summer 2024 because he hasn't left college.

I believe it's the same case for Levi - except there is an extra year tacked on to either scenario.

So much of these polls are based on speculation & projection....
