It's tonight? I'll probably skip it, we don't even have a pick. I rarely skip drafts but what's the point?
Yes, round 1 Thursday, round 2-7 Friday. It's usually Friday/Saturday.

I always find the draft exciting, I love seeing people's childhood dreams come true. It's also the most exciting place to see trades as they're all there in person, there's a chance we make a trade; who knows we might even trade up for a pick if there's a guy they're really high on who falls.

any chance Miroshnichenko falls to us in the 2nd round?
I literally posted about him in the Draft GDT on the main board 30 seconds ago lol
I remember creating him in NHL video games a couple years ago because he was supposed to be the next big thing out of Russia, then he got cancer. Really curious to see where he ends up, in such a wide open draft with no consensus; maybe a team even picks him in the top 10. If he falls I really hope we get him, probably the most talented player in the draft

IIRC, the recent medical reports on Miroshnichenko have had optimistic outlooks, and I'd guess he'll get picked in the latter third of the 1st round. McKenzie had him ranked 19th, and I don't think there's any chance he falls all the way to 63.

He's been cleared for training too
But yea 63 is a pretty big stretch, when people say fall to the 2nd I think they mean we'd then trade up to pick him, not that he'd fall all the way to our pick

Draft is so much less enjoyable when you don't have a 1st round pick. What are our selections this year?

Draft is mostly luck outside of top 10-15 so it's not the end of the world that we're not picking 30th.

Like silverfish (rest in power) always said, sort by points on the CHL website and take the name at the top.

While this is true to some extent, the draft now yields far better players until about the third round. Just 20 years ago if you picked outside the top 5, you probably got a nobody. Now the top 10-15 could be potential game changers and the rest gradually decline until around the third when there is a steep fall.

The increase in training programs, skill building, video, advanced stats, more people playing, etc. has helped teams identify and build much stronger prospects and prospect pools then used to be common and they can do it with much deeper draft picks.

This draft is going to be boring for us. We all know the reasons i dont need to list them. Kinda going to be hard to watch. We are not trading into the first round in this draft, since there is no reason to, nor will we be making any other deals until day 2 getting late round picks in return for scraps. Which is what it is.

The other thing, all this talk about people possibly falling.... IT DOES NOT MATTER lol. WE dont pick until the end of the second round, we wont get any fallers.

Lets hope we find some gems on friday.

There could be a blockbuster trade involving us, who knows

i find that very very doubtful, but youre right who knows.. The deals i expect to see are the scraps, nemeth, goat, and Geo out the door for whatever picks you can get. Other than that, its usually all talk since we are linked to everyone.

i feel like this is still too optimistic and first round picks and even top 15 picks are overvalued here. Everyone has big dreams of drafting the next 100 points scorer but most of the time you get a middle sixer
