How is it possible Israel is in this tournament at all? Being outshot 50-6 through two periods by Spain.

Waiting for the Israel - UAE game next year in 2B.

Israel bounced out of the Asian group of nations in soccer exactly to avoid those matchups, granted ice hockey is a lot, lot, lot smaller profile especially in that region.

UAE is one of the handful of Arab nations that has stopped boycotting Israel in sports over the past couple of years. There shouldn't be any issues in terms of whether or not the match is actually played.

The UAE actually withdrew from the 2011 World Championships because they would have played Israel, so there is precedent there.

That was over a decade ago. More recently:

UAE and Israel teams have played each other in rugby as recently as last month. In soccer, youth teams played in December. Things seem to be changing.

Of course, and the recent normalization of relations between the two states (and other Arab states with Israel) will hopefully mean that becomes the norm. Just noting it has happened, even if it was quite some time ago.

I must say I am impressed how we resisted China yesterday given all the circumstances. Too bad Dobrić didn't realize his breakaway, and moments later Idžan hit the post. Hopefully they have enough energy left for today.

Netherlands 6:2 over Croatia. China 4:1 over Spain. More or less ending standings as expected. I liked how our young players responded, they were among the best on the team, so at least there are some building blocks for the future.
